BF2S Forums Should Infantry Only be Available for BF2142?

no no no.  What we need is one map that the 32/16 sizes are inf only.... 64 having only a few vehicles.  IO 'mode' is very retarded.

we need some real focused maps. Maps that have only one kind of vehicle. Imagine a huge map with, as Bell said 64 tanks. In close range it would be boring, just luck, but on a large map with varied terain it could get interesting. I don't know what flying things we're going to have in BF2142 but it'd be great if we could have something like a littlebird-only map.

Or, imagine a large map which is just one big forest. Like Songhua, but better, and without the 46 APC's per control point. Just one big sniperfest, stalking each other through the woods, hiding, etc. And the opposite, a map with only cqc.

oh well I'll just get ignored and we'll be stuck with boredom2142

How about including an option for new Uav's or scan.....be nice to see some real skill and teamwork.

It seems that people with a lot of time in the air or in tanks think this is a lame idea.  Is that because all the little green boxes and easy targets will not be there anymore?

battlefield is war game (no shit Sarge, hence the name). there are plenty of cases where it's been infantry vs. infantry in wars. Why can't BF have IO maps?

Who would it possibly hurt to include it?  I mean... I will play with vehicles most of the time, but once in a while you get really pissed at the J-10s and havta take a break.  Simply put, BF 2142 wouldn't be the game it is without vehicles, but it hurts nobody to include a simple feature.

Infantry only is going to be in BF2 and probably 2142. If you don't like it, don't play on IO servers.

To you naysayers I'd like to say that infantry mode is sort of like a third arm, useful but not necessary. I wouldn't cry if they decided that Bf2142 was too delicate of a game to throw a infantry only mode in it. Judging by the information the website lists only titan and conquest modes, I'd say they aren't planning to release any sort of infantry only maps initially

Conversely if they did release one I wouldn't cry about it, I mean c'mon fellas... It's not like you have to go on a server if you don't like the map they are playing. Please dig your heads out of your posteriors and think about what your arguing about.

The whole idea of the BF style of games is.... that every soldier can access every aspect of the battlefield

IMO, if you want infantry only, play on infantry oriented maps, or don't play BF at all.  The tools are there for every player to seize the opportunity to hit a tank from behind, C4 it, jump on it, land mine it.  If you're so dumb you haven't figured out how to destroy a tank in BF2, then go play counter strike.  To be honest, infantry only often times lowers the fun, and once you have ranked servers offering it, most other ranked servers will go to infantry only too, because that will be the only way to earn a lot of points. 

It would ruin the game and go against everything the series has stood for.

wtf if it was a server option then everyone would be happy either you could have vehicals or not and then it would be up to the server admin what type of game play his people would want and pay for remember that server payments are what make the world go round for ea and dice both....
