America is better than the rest of the world.  I'm tired of the rest of the world not giving us the proper respect.

Anyone worth a shit has already left their country and came to the US, so we can just assume that people still living in another country are below us.
People like you are why the rest of the world hate Americans

The city folk deal with alot different cultures on a daily bases and live in a city where its mostly white collar work but once you venture into the country the culture changes of course (me being from the country I know and I have visited most of the major cities ) the country folk are old school and most make their money blue collar work - we see our way of life disappearing daily, land getting bought for housing development, factories getting shut down bc they are moving over seas, finding work is harder bc you have immigrants that will do the job for less ----- now I know none of this is an excuse for the "country folks" but they also can very polite and maybe you had one bad experience and that left the only impression in your mind but since this thread is about rude ppl of different countries isn't that what you are pushing toward the Wisconsin folk - they are set in their ways just as you are set in your ways ex. they like Pres. Bush, you hate him - they like Fox news bc they actual show the news, you hate Fox news bc they they seem to be right wing news ( but if they were like all the other news channel then you would hear and see the same thing repeated )
I'm sure I could go to Ireland (actual planning a trip to there) and find ppl that would treat me nice and ppl that would treat me wrong but I won't let that stay in my mind and ruin my trip bc they have their ways and I should respect that
Like I say - I acknowledge that I am generalising and it doesn't colour my opinion of all Americans. All countries have their good folk and their less than good folk.

I was in Chicago one day and when it started raining hard I was stuck under an overpass for quite some time with a bunch of people including like some Swiss family. It was an odd phenomenon indeed.

Chicago - well what can I say - Chicagoans are the best. Best city in America by a country mile too (and the most 'American' feeling too).
Interesting to hear you say so Poe. Chicago was my home for 6 years, I count it among my favorite cities in the world, second in the US only to San Francisco. I have heard a few times that Chicago has often ranked as England's favorite American city in polls of English travelers. I can't help but feel a bit of pride but I've always wondered why it's able to inspire such strong feelings.

What are your reasons, especially compared to the other cities you've been to in the US?

Well apart from the music, the friendliness of the people, the museums & art institutes, Wrigley Field, the El, the beaches and the view from Sears Tower, who wouldn't love a city that looks like this:

CameronPoe just likes big cities and the city people because the small towns don't have bath houses.  Anyone who took my post as serious is a retard and needs to lighten up.

Most Americans are proud to be American.  Why would this piss off people from other countries???

English IS spoken in many tourist traps across the globe, of course an American would rather find someone who speaks English than to do the grunt/nod/point method when they don't know a lick of the local language.

There is a big difference in an American traveling across Europe once in a life time and being expected to have an understanding of 3 different languages and try to speak them vs. someone in Europe who is around German/French/Spanish/Italian people all their life.  It may surprise you how many Americans speak Spanish because we live next to Mexico, we don't live next to Germany or France so get over yourselves.  We are not European.

Europeans appear to have big heads and be arrogant to us Americans in the same way that Americans appear to Europeans.  The thread is stupid and simplistic.  We have people from all corners of the world in America, so generalizing about Americans rings real hollow.  Also remember when calling us racist that we are ALL Americans over here and American is not a race, so are you saying we all hate each other because Americans consist of all races in great numbers.  Last I recall there is not even a race in a Majority anymore (>50%).  Also remember that for all of America's diversity, we fight together as Americans when the time comes.

Finally, if you don't like America.....  Good for you.  Who said everybody in the world HAS to like America and Americans.  Big screw, you hate Americans......  Do you think a generalized statement like that makes you look enlightened????  At least when I make stupid statements they are sarcastic and done to watch idiots of the world go nuts.

I noticed that many people in US are rude but there are also many people here that do say thank you bye and so on..... I guess it is parents that should invoke the future of this. It's not a country thing it's more likely the way a person is raised.

Usually has to do with the fact that most country folks still consider them better than democrats.  Democrats tend to come off as trying to take away rights to country people, with things like gun control, environmentalism and increased beauracracy.  I grew up in a country town so I know this first hand.  I considered my self to be a democrat till a group of democrat environmentalists got a judge to kick me off of PRIVATE land that a club I was a part of owned for off roading.  It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I pretty much swore off the party.  I find this seems to happen in almost every country town (at least in the region I live in) and it really pisses people off to have outsiders come in and tell you what you can and can't do.

As for rude foreigners I've found it seems to depend on the country they are visiting from.  I've never met a rude japanese tourist, but I've seen a few rude australian tourists.  The few french tourists I've come accross have all been very polite, but they still had a better than you attitude.  The UK tourists are pretty nice, but get em drinking and they get mean (which is fine by me).

I always say "welcome to Texas", buy their beers, and when they ask to pay their part, or return the favor later, I say "just say good things about Texas when you get home and we'll call it a draw."

I've found that you can change a whole bunch of people's opinions by being nice to one person at a time.
