- What did you do during First Sergeant to Sergeant Major gap
I've taken to plane whoring and i try to keep my deaths at 0 for each round i play gives me a challenge and improves my overall k/d, plus it helps me get my hours up so i can get the last 4 veteran badges (tank/transport/chopper/aviator)
My first 50k was made playing on full map rotation servers.
Well im in the gap now.. 9000 points to go.. getting around 800 each day.
I stay in heli, stay on air maps, kick ass.

A lot of time flying and commanding to get the 100hrs for expert badges. Commanding winning teams is a fast way to help you get through that gap.
played the game.
Towards the end of the gap I actually got bored with most of the vanilla maps... I've been playing exclusively SF for weeks now... I'll probably play jalabad for a while, and I've been meaning to go and get some value from Euro Forces. Once the gap was over 2nd Lieutenant came in a flash...
Whilst I haven't got there, I'm earning more and more points each day (earned over 450 yesterday in the space of a few hours..) and I've got that annoying 12k gap from Gunnery to First/Master coming up.
Commander is the logical thing to do, as you'll not only get your War College Ribbon but also a medal or two probably - not to mention double points if you win.
I'm becoming more and more of a tank whore, so try earning all the ribbons and an expert spec-ops/medic or something If you don't take notice of your points, and just watch your hours go up and up you'll be a S. Major before you know it
I need my damn basic knife for first though ;P

That's not that bad of a gap acctually. Back on the old rankings when 2nd LT was highest rank, it was 25,000 between a lot of the ranks, sgt -staff sgt - gunny sgt, etc. So if memory servers staff sgt was 50,000 points and gunny was 75,000. So keep in mind if you get discourged, it could be a lot worse for you, you could have only 3 unlocks.
Mmm.. can't remember, been a long time ago since I've been in that gap, I think I just played.
But I'm in such a gap again, Currently a captain, takes 25.000 points to go to Major, just need 3500 more points, nearly there This time I just worked on improving my SPM

Hope this helps.

I got into the gap when 1.03 was released, just got out of it.
That's almost a year

A later patch would have moved you straight out of it. Pwnt.
I'm another one who is in that loooooooooooooooooooooong gap ....
(1) I was mostly a ground pounder before the gap, and I've become an armor whore in the gap.
(2) Going after some of the more challenging badges/medals (3 experts recently ... and, no, I didn't use cheap artillery).
(2) I plan to do some chopper whoring once I've finished getting the armor badges & medals.
(4) Spending a lot more time with the Special Forces maps now (I discovered that I love Iron Gator, but unfortunately I lag too much to really be effective).

I went for all my veteran badges, tbh the last 10k passed really quickly for me which was good, your barely a serg major before you become an officer so meh.
I'm just rounding off the 25k gap from captain to major, and I must say, iv scored the points like 5 times faster, its been awsome......Anoying at times, but awsome hehe

I had fun with my friends durring the gap and it went longer but it was fun. And im only 1,171 points away to Sergeant Major and finishing the gap.
i was pissed thinking i was never gona get it. i just played casually and it came alot quicker than i thought.
reached it 2 weeks ago. had a break, now im playing again.
mint.

It went fast for me, i thought it would be a long gap too.vanmani wrote:
Hi guys,
I recently hit first sergeant, and now I'm looking at a 28000 point haul until next rank up.
What did you find yourself doing to keep the game interesting at this time?
Thus far I've already reverted from vehicle whoring to infantry whoring, and made a fair dent on the ribbons/badges, my spm is jumping up by 0.01 for every hour or two I play... but there's a long way to go still...
Cheers,
Vanmani.
But I got theyre in no time at all (thankz to the holiday )
I got SgtMjr on the weekend. I got 1st Sgt at the start of May...3months. Lots of time.
When I hit 1st Sgt, I swore to NEVER play karkand again (because I hate it now!), and Ive stuck to it so far.
During the 3month gap, I played as the EU a lot and got the EU medal, AF ribbon and played a LOT on the non city maps, in fact, I estimate about 90% of my time as 1st Sgt was spent on all vanilla, EU and AF maps except for karkand, mashtuur and sharqi.
As a result, Ive become a much better player and earnt some great awards as well as lots of golds/silvers/bronzes.
