Plus there are the occasions where you get anomalous damage (none, or less than you're supposed to get) as mentioned here: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?pid=496910
See post #7 in particular.
I generally use the L96A1 & M24. I'll still pull out the M95 on occasion. For example just this afternoon, after being killed twice (as soon as I spawned) by a guy who landed a cobra on a hill overlooking a flag -I used the M95 to put an end to his happy spawncamping. I had a feeling that he'd come back, he did. Landed in the same spot, this time I was ready for it. Sometimes I just love the M95.

this is a simple topic to bring to a close and there are two words that will bring this topic to a close - personal choice.
sniper rifles are simply personal choice. i've used them all and my favourite and the one i had most success with is the L96A1. i've tried all the others and but this is one that gave me the most success.
however, once you get used to a particular rifle it is very difficult, i find anyway, to switch to another one. bearing that in mind, maybe it would be better to become familiar with an unlock rifle so you don't end up ever being on the a team that does not have the rifle you are used to.
anyway, experiment and use them all and find out which you like best.

Yep, that's one of the prime advantages of unlocks: consistency.sidneysmut wrote:

About flexibility though: if you play SF you need to expand your horizons beyond the sweet ol' L96A1 since it's not available. And about half the time you have to use the M95, unless you like the SVD
l96 and M95, l96 cuz its simply the best gun and M95 cuz you can shoot trough glass. Which makes the m24 pretty useless...The SVD and Type88 can be good if you know how to use them, I don't so never use them.
l9 for maps like wake. I like the m95 or SVD for city maps.
The Best sniper rifle is the park 52 from bf2142
L96A1 owns !!

Both the M95 and the L96A1 are armour piercing sniper rifles, meaning regardless of armour, they get any player down to 2 bars of health if they're hit in the torso or legs (I think, I read that from somewhere), of course headshots do 3X more damage so it's an instant kill. The M24 is not armour piercing, that's why it only does half to you if you get hit in the torso with armour. Am I right? If you are dying to prove me wrong, then yeah, I'm probably wrong.

A headshot is triple the base damage, not 3X more damage.
The M24 is still the most seXeh Rifle out there.
Barret M107 is teh pwn, semi auto. It can hit shit real accurate at a mile away.

One guy got split in half by the .50 cal bullet at a mile.

The best is the L96.
I like to snipe with my G36C, though. It's the most accurate gun next to the sniper guns, but of course you can shoot faster and they don't make as much noise. I tend to be on single shot most of the time, and I like to find spots at medium-far range and I can pick people off from surprisingly far away.

SAK, Masthuur and Sharqi are all short range maps in Sniper terms. You and your G36C wouldnt stand a chance on maps like Fushe and DV vs a Sniper with a L96A1.[mcp]eltorrente wrote:

running headshots are easy with the L96 ive even shot a driver at full speed from behind about 300 meters away
Wrong, AGAIN. Geez, would you look over the thread you're posting to at least before writing stuff like this?! This is how myths get perpetuated.Vub wrote:

I've gotten many running headshots with the l96a1, which is my favorite, i shot once and hit the guy while he was running to the side of a building lol
I have seriously taken a liking to the M95 due to the ability to damage/incapacitate choppers. I play a lot of Dragon Valley, and in a round, I usually get 2 chopper pilot snipes... and it's the most amusing thing to watch the gunner keep doing his duties until *kablam*. At that point I usually vocalize in real life something along the lines of "gotcha bitch," or "booyaka."
