OK i was bored to day. so me and my friend went in to future shop and we both play bf2 and we took a peek at vid cards. i noticed the x850xt platinum edition is more expensive then the x1600 or the x1300. what is up with that is the x850 a better car or something?? I am a computer n00b

x850 plays games of today with blazing speed and efficency.
x1600 is up for the task of gaming in the near future.
Platinum version has even more graphics horsepower, thus its more expensive.

x850 platinum not only supports the DVI like the x1600 but the VIVO as well. It has other integrated feature's like graphics adapter and AGP X8. It is a better vid card. It does run the same DDR3 and 256 MB as the x1600. It just has more features and faster speeds... at this time...

But it won't fare as well as the x1600 for future gaming. Especially with all the shaders needed.
As soon as they get that ball rolling yes, the x1600 will be the one to get out of the two he is asking about...
I have bought many ATI cards and for the money you can't beat them, but just recently I have switched over to NIVIDIA. Too many support problems come with ATI at this time, that may change in the future but for now I go with NIVIDIA. I had to get two down loads just to make my ATI's run BF2 at all, and they where twice the vid card then what was called for by the game. I think alot of the gaming industry are in bed with NIVIDIA.
