aha
Ahhhh, yep its true, Macs can boot windoze now and linux. Pointless? Ahhh your dumb. As a photographer that makes his money taking photos, I sure as hell wont trust windoze with my living. Each OS has their place. Windoze=great gaming machines!!! OSX=just flat out better. I have two of each so unlike you I know what I am talking about.
Damn! I was going to do this as soon as I brought my copy of BF2 to work. I'll try it out and get back to everyone with the results.
wtf a mac beats my celeron?
One more reason to NOT buy a PC...Mac's will start to grow at a substantial rate with the new Intel conversion...PC makers watch out!
looks nice
With PC sales covering 95% of the market, I will be impressed if multiple OS will make that much difference to their market share. I run multiple Macs and PCs, sure Macs look great and do everything with style, but that style comes at a high price ! But hey, if they manage to have a good go at the market then maybe next they can make Betamax a success
Hey, for a comparably equiped machine the Mac is cheaper, you just think PC's are cheaper because you can get a bare bones unit for $500...put the same gear in and the Mac is about $1,000 cheaper. Oh, and the Mac has been around for 15 years, hardly a Betamax story.PMcS wrote:

Nice high graphics settings with no noticable lag on a notebook... (/\)
Yeah and Windows never crashed while playing Quake...and Fallout...and FEAR...and Oblivion...and BF2...and Unreal tourn... Word...Excel...et all. All computers crash, though macs (at least mine) much less.cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

What is the advantage of Mac again? Easier?

You are quoting $$$ So I guess you are not in the UK, which is where I am. Here I can build a Fully tricked out PC, or buy a fully tricked out PC for less than a basic G5. As for prices in your country I cannot comment, but maybe you are right for your countries prices.
If you read my post you will see that I own plenty of both machines, and yes I am aware of how long Apple have been around, I have plenty of beige junk still in my loft.
Also, if you read my post you will see that I did not actually call Mac a Betamax story.

Actually, the Mac Pro is about $1000 less than a comparably equipped custom-built machine (Without friend-of-a-friend hardware comps, mind you). Intel Dual Core Xeons, Quadro FX 4500, 250GB drive, bluetooth and AirPort, and the ability to run several operating systems...still $1000 less on a new Mac.
My desktop still kicks the shit outta any Mac. Hell, my laptop even comes close....
You can build a PC thats more powerful then a mac for way less.
There is no advantage to having a mac. I hate those commercials, its really the other way around.
I refuse to buy an IPod as well. I have a Sony 20Gb Network Walkman instead.
As for crashing, my PC had never crashed on BF2 untill 1.3....*shakes fist at EA*

Even my Granny could get an equally spec'd PC for half the price.
This whole Mac vs PC argument is old and dead. They are both good machines, and without each other the other wouldn't exist. But any honest Mac owner (myself included) will admit that Macs are more expensive than PC's. It goes without saying that something that is selling 20 times more units than the other is going to be cheaper !

Then again, Apple isn't going after the low-end market. They are looking to beat the Mid- to high-range computer market, in which they've already beaten most of the primary computer dealers.
They did have specialist sectors covered, Music and CAD etc. But Apple are obviously feeling the heat in recent years in these sectors. Why else would they do things like purchasing eMagic and immediately discontinuing production of Logic Audio software for the PC ? Clearly the act of someone that feels the threat of real competition in a sector they have been used to owning for many years, is it not ?Marconius wrote:

Take a look at G3 sales for example. Beige G3's sold mainly to hardcore old school Mac users, then they stick the same machine in a trendy new case and all of a sudden they find a new market. The Fashion conscious, those people that value style over substance.... The Macs we know today are born, trendy pricey fancy machines, with not much under the bonnet for the price tag. There's nothing wrong with that if that's what you are into. But it is a fact that's what Apple are increasingly relying on to drive sales.
MACs are geared towards leet hacksors :<
not leet hacksor gamers though.

dude, it took me a while to figure out that was just an iBook notebook or whatever LOL I thought it was on some large screen monitor MAC G5 or something like that till the dude panned out and shit.
Those graphics looked pretty cool though considering it was on a notebook! Looked better, sounded different too, like when the Havok was coming in and he got in the Stinger, shot the missiles out "Fox One! Fox One!"
