From what I hear on the news in Brisbane, there seems to be a bit of gang related violence in Sydney, with 'gangland' (I think they call it, clarification) with murders occuring here and there, but I wouldnt say its a huge issue.

well, I dare say that the US has the highest violent crime / murder rate of all of the "developped" countries.
I am not counting Russia as developped, btw.

I'd also say that gang related violence ain't much of a problem here in europe.
It's a big problem in south america though.

All in the culture means is that I know and am friends with kids that are influenced by that music. One time I asked him why he sells drugs? He told me I gotta do it like Pac, it's just me against the world. So yes I do think that if you combine poverty and something like music that tells them to hate cops and such, most will in turn hate cops and sell drugs. All they know is their music, that is 100% fact. Now if you look at me who is middle class, listens to the music and isn't screwed up. That is because I saw better things and I was educated.

More on the topic of the thread, it seems that the US is indeed quite bad. Any of you heard about the murders in New Orleans. Pathetic.

Well, although some of you don't consider Russia to be a civilised country, I'd like to comment about our situation.
You could see in that page |AIA| DAS linked to that Russia is second after India in terms of violent crime. But about 75% of these murders come not from organized/gangster crime, but rather from so-called "everyday/domestic" crimes. For example, two men get drunk and one man kills the other, or when drug addicts want to get money to buy crack they kill someone...
We don't really have areas in big cities that can be called ghettos, i.e. I don't know any places I am afraid to visit at night.
