After playing for a while its occurred to me (and I would guess quite a few of you as well) that there is no Medal of Honour available.
Does this game need one and if so what would be requirements??
Not forgetting that the Medal Of Honour MUST BE available to all soldiers immidiatly (from the Highest General to the 1st game Pvt) - so no Sharpshooter Medal, or anything requiring a Gold badge
Something like: 50kills AND 100 Team Score IAR
Your thoughts?
No.
Have you noticed that none of the medals in-game are the same as actual medals that you earn in the armed forces of ANY country (with the exception of the ubiquitous purple heart)? There's a reason for that. There are men and women, at this very moment, who are bleeding and dying in cities that you have never heard of. These are the people who earn the real medals. Think about this. These are the requirements:
Awarded by the President in the name of Congress to members of the armed forces who conspicuously distinguish themselves by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of their lives above and beyond the call of duty.
(a) while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States;
(b) while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force; or
(c) while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the United States is not a belligerent party.
There must be no margin of doubt or possibility of error in awarding this honor. To justify the decoration, the individual's service must clearly be rendered conspicuous above his or her comrades by an act so outstanding that it clearly distinguishes his or her gallantry beyond the call of duty from lesser forms of bravery; and it must be the type of deed which if not done would not subject the individual to any justified criticism. The deed must be without detriment to the mission of the command or to the command to which attached.How can you, in a video game, compare to the bravery and selflessness of the men and woman who have earned this medal? They have been shot, stabbed, run over, literally torn limb from limb and drug in the streets (in the last 10 years even!), blown up, shot down, and otherwise endured a situation that you can't even begin to imagine.
To make it an award in a video game is to disrespect and dishonor those who have earned it for their actions. And yes, I thought it was crass for EA to release the Medal of Honor games. Maybe I'm old fashioned. Or, maybe I just know someone who earned it.
