In reply to Aerial Service Ribbon: I know there's no jets in BF2:SF, i posted this already. You cannot receive this ribbon by playing SF. Can you get it by playing the original BF2? I dunno, haven't seen anyone do it yet and I haven't had a lot of time to play lately.

Next time I load up, I'll play some BF2 and make the requirements for this badge, it shouldn't be difficult. Then we'll have confirmation. Personally... i don't think it works that way. I think you can get BF2 badges in SF but not the other way around. If anyone has gotten a SF badge in BF2 please post.

yes.  those ribbons are commented out at the moment.  what ive heard from reading the forums is that EA has the basic coding in place to award them, but it wasnt finished in time for the ship date...so expect a patch sometime to correct this.

Tried for the SF Aerial Service Ribbon within BF2 to see if you can actually get these ribbons in an original version round since there's no jets in SF. Played for ~25 mins on Dragon Valley (64 player), got 33 kills in an F-35B and no ribbon. So this confirms that you cannot receive SF ribbons while playing BF2 unless someone else has achieved this feat.

It does seem like you can receive BF2 ribbons in SF though after reading some threads but noone has posted any pic to prove this.

I don't have pictures to prove it, but I have definitely got a BF2 ribbon in SF. It doesn't show in my BF2s stats, due to SF update issues, but I achieved the Legion of Merit Ribbon the other day playing SF (this page does show it).

Face it there is one
There IS a Night Vision Badge. There are images and there is code for them in the files as well. Accept that.

However, as i state in my first post on the very first page, you CANNOT receive it because the coding for them is commented out. Will they remove the comments in a future patch? I dunno, ask EA.

dipshit, pay attention. the images are embedded into the game itself.

The coding for the badge is there, just like the coding for the ribbons. Whether or not EA decides to allow us to get those badges, medals, and ribbons is yet to be seen but the bottom line is that they are most certainly part of the programming.

And for the love of allah could you please stop typing like a thirteen year old girl on AOL? "You" and "see" are not such long words.

I don't have photoshop, i'm not a graphic artist. Let's agree to something further, you and I have never met and i've never tampered with your computer. Now that we have that out of the way, I will magically make these images of the night vision badges appear on your PC.

Go to the following zip file: x:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\xpack\Menu_client.zip

In this zip file, when opened, you will find the following folder: External\FlashMenu\
images\awards\front

In that folder you'll find the pictures of all the awards that the game installed on your HDD. Use an image viewer to look through them and you'll see the 3 night vision badges there. It's not like i'm pulling these things out of my _ _ _ . The same files you have installed are the same files I have installed.

Excellent reply. Someone got pwned and should now admit that there IS a night vision badge. Problem is, you'll have to wear nightvision in order to see the badge. ;-)

I'll admit I'm just guessing here but maybe you need to play as Spec Ops if you want to get that ribbon in BF2 ?

Don't helis count for the aerial service ribbon ? sorry, if this has been answered already. didn't have to patience to go through 5 pages...

EDIT: I have checked with UBAR and helis obviously do not count for the aerial service ribbon.

I dunno, don't have photoshop. I used IrfanViewer, freeware you can dl from any major dl site. Some image programs have problems viewing the file while it's zipped. Unzip it to a temp folder and then you should be able to view them easily.

As for Aerial Ribbon: No you can't use helis. Has to be time spent in some type of jet/bomber. Tried to get this badge in BF2 but it's not possible, used AT, sniper, & medic kits.

OK, so according to Jester's post, the only possible awards that are currently attainable are the class badges, zipline, grappling hook, and tactical support weaponry badges, and armored specialist, helicopter specialist, and crew specialist ribbons? Thats not a whole lot...

No it's not a lot of awards period. You'd think after going to the trouble of creating the other ones they left out, that they might have plans of a future update/patch but i dunno. It would certainly be a waste of time and effort if that's what they end up doing.

If I had 100-hours with assault class, and made 40 kills in one round while playing an SF map, would I get the expert assault badge? And once reaching 44 kills, would I get the expert assault combat specialist badge, too?

In other words, can you get regular awards and specialist awards in BF2:SF? Or must I play a vanilla BF2 map if I want a regular award?

i'm about 99% sure you can receive vanilla BF2 awards in SF.  just not the other way around.
