Neither.
I figured I would get that and it's kind of obvious. So that part is really not debatable.bubbass wrote:

booze, Fuck i started drinking when i was 6. Not heavily tho. that didnt start till early teens (like 13-14).
ohh whats your definitoin of heavy drnking... cause i cant ever get drunk off beer (just feel a buzz after 8)... I just cant fit that much in my stomach to even get close to drunk. 3/4 -1 700mil bottle of vodka would do it tho.

Thats why beer is my poison. After you become a crusty old dawg it's hard to get sloshed off just beer. Hence; I never really get trashed, well almost never.
I stear clear from most hard stuff.

I got to pick the ganja. I too have done rediculous shit on booze, wrecked my car twice!! I slow down when im hi. Id rather have my kids sober if possible but ill pick the weed.
When I and the kids think they are ready they are to try it in our house, with me, and I'll get the stuff. Hopefully they will say, "nah dont like it", but if they dont at least I can control it.
If you say to a kid nowadays, your grounded, they tend to climb down the drainpipe to get out. So Ive come to learn its often better to give them the choice and then they trust you and the whole scenario works out better in the long run.

My uncle is a 60's hippy with four grown kids. He let them all smoke as youths and none of them do as adults.
Been there done that I guess.

My choice when I was a kid was to listen or the broom upside my head. Nowadays they throw parents in prison for that.1927(h) wrote:

I do neither Pot or drink.

I would partake in neither but even so, alcohol seems to be more socially accepted. Even so, Mary Jane is being used so much that people want it legalized too.
Im unsure what Broom upside my head means? I guess its getting hit with a broom?Kmarion wrote:

Good theory dude tell someone they can't do it and they only wanna do it more. You could get them so stoned on thier first time that they whitey and that may put them off big style. oh the old room spinning toilet hugging whitey how I don't miss you.1927(h) wrote:

I think that will teach them to be careful with dosage rather than not do it all together. First time I got mullered me and some friends baked cookies from hash i bought in the classroom at school. My parents didn't tell me not to do, they just told me to be careful. In fact, they didn't even mind me growing it in the garden, since a homegrown supply is weaker and doesn't contain chemical additives. And the actual weight yielded is low. Not like when I used to have a very big light and hydroponic system many years after I moved out, but that's another story...Jinto-sk wrote:

I picked booze because "Weed", is the gateway drug if you start on it you can start wanting more high so you get some other more powerful drugs cocaine,LSD you know booze is not safer but less addicting.
BOOZE IS A GATEWAY DRUG. More so because it lowers inhibitions. So there.travisb05 wrote:

That's complete BS. I smoked plenty of weed growing up and was around a lot harder drugs almost every day with the friends I had. Maybe if you're week minded, but not everyone moves on to harder drugs.travisb05 wrote:

And Pot is not addicting, just habit forming. Alchohol can mess you up physically due to the addictiveness

I chose mj because even though that is illegal, if my kid was drinking heavily he/she could end up killing someone. and that would be bad.
False. No evidence on this earth to back up this claim. 1980's drug war propaganda. All the MJ users I know, have not robbed or stolen for money to get more as a crackhead is stereotyped. And none of them have moved on to harder drugs. The week minded do that and it isnt marijuanas fault.travisb05 wrote:

I'd like all gov't resources (DEA) to be aimed at detroying the meth epidemic. Pot is the least of our worries.
Just pointing out that there is already a discussion specifically about the subject of reclassification. I got the impression this was more a discussion about the question posed in the first post, legal issues and classifications aside.SuB wrote:

Weed can severly affect certain people like alcohol.
my Dad is having serious mental problems because of it so for me alcohol, but only beer! Wine with a meal is great, spirits for only when I'm around as I let them. If you let them get compeletly drunk on spirits when you're there then it SERIOUSLY puts them off doing it all the time as they get bored of it.
