Ok so I may get one of those, but I want to be able to pla all on high (given I would have a new Core Duo and 2GB o' RAM)
Is it possible? And please don't lie to make your system look better... only say yes if you REALLY play with all on high.
thank you.

3GB DDR 400 RAM
XFX 7600 GT XXX edition

runs all on high @ 1024 average fps = 50
major battle i.e 15 inf all shooting at same time on screen, fps = 30 ish

i run settings medium, high and some at low on 1280 rez. and it never drops below 90 fps

and it still looks stunning

Argh... I'd love to get one of those as they are passive cooled and really nice and silent but now... I'll probably have to get a Radeon 1900XT lol crap I hope this thing isn't loud...

1900xt is very loud sadly, but an aftermarket cooler like the VF900cu is better

Crap... and how about the 7900GT? It's quite a bit slower than the 1900XT but faster than the 1800 and 70€ o so cheaper than the 1900XT... but is it loud?
Btw the VF900cu is like... REALLY expensive... is it worth it? I mean is it more or less silent?

You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

I have an X800, costing me all of 50 quid. It plays it all on high w/ 4x Antialiasing on 1280x1024 - no jerks. I put some down to medium just in case my card couldn't handle it, but it seems to be fine.

VF900cu isnt that expensive... 45usd now, and its the best air aftermarket cooler now, if you stick that to the 1900xt, it will be very quiet compared to stock fan.

But that's not enough for me to shell out that much of money as I would buy a complete new PC...

That is expensive... X-D
And what about the 7900GT? Are those loud aswell?

Btw look what I've found as Battlefield2 comparison of all the current GPUs... it's German, but the stats show all I think... they got my all-on-high settings...

well the x1900xt are not that loud. sure if you run the fan @100% it is like a jet engine but even under the heavyest load it does not usually go over 50%-60% (and that with all the fan settings turned up so that it spins faster sooner). also this is just for my well ventilated pc. althouigh i cannot measure it, the sound level is about equal to a normal (not zalman or papst but just any no-brand one) 80mm fan when under load.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Have been running a 7600gt for couple of months now all on high settings and 4xAA (Res 12 x10).  No probs whatsoever, great little cards and running a good deal cooler than my previous ATI card.

Have recently put in another one and now running in Sli.

The extra card was only £110, bought it after returning a defective ATI X850XT that I bought last year, got refunded the £230 (great company DABS)

These cards are excellent!
