Damn, I was getting courious! What about some other maps in real life? Very exciting is Sharqi Peninsula. Originally it's spelled Sharqui and here are some facts:

The following picture from ESA shows Sharqui Island, Tunisia . As you can see, it's not a peninsula...

https://earth.esa.int/ers/ers_action/tunisia_islands.jpg

...but at the coast in the west of Sharqui is a port, that could really be the map "Sharqui Peninsula":

https://earth.esa.int/ers/ers_action/tunisia_port.jpg

All togheter look like that:

https://earth.esa.int/ers/ers_action/tunisia.jpg

There are also other places in the middle east called "Sharqi" and are spelled like the map, but have nothing in common with it regarding the location. Fore example, one is a big area in Iran.

Pictures are from ESA and are for sure pre-google-earth-age...

Nope, it says it's at the persian gulf. As I say in the end of the post, there are existing other Sharqis, but no one has something in common with the map.

At the persian gulf coast existing lots of places that are like the map...

I give up on more pics. The coast of the persian gulf has hundreds of places, that could be our BF2 Sharqi. Let's agree, it's some where close to the Strait of Hormuz. There should be also somewhere the island from "Operation Cleansweep", because the map description is talking about the entrance to the persian gulf, and "right around the corner" is the gulf of oman...

this has been done before already [see link above] but here's some pics of various satellite photos.
dalian city
https://img135.imageshack.us/img135/5492/dalian1bi3.jpg

this area bears a little geographical similarity to the BF2 map, but still not all that close.
https://img62.imageshack.us/img62/3148/dalian2jq8.jpg

trivia: dalian is a sister city of 12 cities in 9 countries, including houston, oakland, vancouver, and glasgow.
there is no nuclear power plant in or near dalian city.

daqing oilfields overview

more daqing, the treatment ponds and such are all there, the BF2 map has the right idea
https://img111.imageshack.us/img111/3128/daqing2as2.jpg

trivia: daqing means 'great celebration' in mandarin, referring to the discovery of the oilfields there.

and of course, wake island

You mix up something. We try to find out the source for Sharqui here. There are existing very detailed threads about Wake and Dalian. When you check the thread, there is off course a huge power plant at Dalian!

of course there is a power plant, they need electricity. i just said it's not nuclear.

from map description: "US Rapid Deployment forces are advancing to capture the Dalian Plant nuclear facility and force disruptions to the electrical grid in northern China."

China currently operates four nuclear power reactors: Guangdong-1 and Guangdong-2 (at Daya Bay), Qinshan-1 and Ling Ao-1(Shenzhen).
http://www.nti.org/db/china/pwrrctr.htm

daya bay is near hong kong in the south. shenzhen is also in the south. dalian is way up north, near korea and russia.

World Nuclear Associtaion is talking about 10 reactors at 4 existing plants in China. And some more are planned or under construction, also in the north. But I have to agree, that there is none close to Dalian. But you have to agree, that the cooling towers ar lookin' very "nuclear"...

maybe it really IS a nuke plant, and DICE has some good spies working in china so they know things we don't.

in any case, that really does look like sharqi peninsula. i think you've found it.
