I'm trying to record some stuff from the Medics Versus Snipers day, and when I run fraps I get around seven FPS.

What?

I toned my settings down even lower then I normally do for recording (I use mostly low, a few med and 2x AA and get 25+ FPS with fraps, it's smooth and a tiny bit jumpy at times) but now I've got everything on low and no AA.

What the fuck?

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm going to try it again tomorrow, but till then?

use battlerecorder doesnt hit the fps half as much .fraps is great but is well known for dropping the fps right down .

I'm not going to bother to try recording with the BR method. It's a pain in the ass unless someone is willing to walk me through it.

I get around 25 or higher normally.

I'm going to cut out as many progs as I can and try recording again, I only need to record a few moments so bleh...

Rofl, I know how to use battlerecorder. I use it for recording all the time. But how to record it to an AVI is what I'm talking of. There's an ingame way to do it, kind of like how the source engine can convert frames to TGAs then you use VirtualDub to splice them into an AVi.

Complex process, but with badass results.

Well, correct me if I am wrong but you never SAID you wanted an AVI file.....What you said was

You could always use Game Cam, it generates an AVI file.

Well I'm sorry, you're taking my quote out of context.

Now, you said to use battle recorder because it doesn't hurt the FPS as much as fraps. Which means, your saying not to use fraps and to use battlerecorder in place of fraps to make an outside recording in the form of an AVI as fraps does or some other format.

Now, I said I know how to use battlerecorder with the demos. What I didn't know how to do is to use battlerecorder in place of fraps, because it's a complex process and I just didn't want to bother with it.

Now I'm sorry if that's not perfectly straightforward, but it should be pretty easy to follow 2 or 3 posts in a conversation.

I don't think I mentioned that I got it working again. The problem had to do with the PIO transfer mode on the harddrive that I was recording to. I set it to PIO because of some former troubleshooting, and forgot to set it back to DMA. Once I set it back to DMA, fraps recorder in it's full goodness.
