I kind of doubted you were genuinely offended. Espoo, I mentioned because I had occasion to meet several people from there last year, and only a few of them were ethnic Finns. In hindsight, I don't know if that means I can extrapolate a general diversity, but that was my "reasoning". Anecdotal!

And, considering practically the only German words I know are swear words, that could work, but English is really the only language I can speak (semi-)civilly. And it's pretty close to German, anyway. Arschloch...

i think once you see the rest of the ads for the white psp you will feel slightly different to the situation.

Hey maverick good find I honestly didn't know about the other pictures as I just read that article that I linked to. I don't think it was an accident that the other pictures didn't get as much attention from news sites etc as it kinda balances the argument (much like the news doesn't report most of the better news from Iraq).

But I think everyone in this thread should pat themselves on the back for having a discussion in the 'Debate & Serious Talk forum without it ending in:

I don't like my PSP that much. I have very few games for it, I really only use it for its music player capabilities. Might sell it to get an iPod.

Finland wos never involved in slavery or the black & white racial issues that have marred history. And even though I've never visited Finland I doubt that there are many black people up where you are so may be that's why you don't understand why some people still hold a grudge/or discriminate dating back to the days of their ancestors.

that's ridiculous, if they were side by side they would get "lost" in the shot, it's common place to use assymetrical placement in advertising, photography, and movies, it was just coincidence that the white one was higher, if it were the black one higher would people be whining about it? Wouldn't that be equally as racist? Let me put it this way, if we are all equal then it really doesn't matter who's grabbing what, it should be viewed at the most as two people grabbing each other, if anything, it's offensive to whites because it implies that evil violent white women want to beat up black women, if you had seen the picture and not read the intro or title, would the thought have ever crossed your mind? Impossible to answer that now that you've already seen it.

I don't see how it can be percieved as provocative, it is an advertising campaign, I can see the argument for it being racist and what people are saying, but I don't think it is racist. I think it is just people holding on to the past.

As for you non directly implying I have no brain - debate and serious talk - if you do not like what someone says accept it, don't insult them my opinion is as valid as the next persons.
