Anyone earned Expert Ground Defense without commander stat-padding?

I have just spent four frustrating weeks attemping and finally getting the Veteran Ground Defense badge ... got lots of 7 & 8 kill rounds, but that 10 kill round just eluded me. And, yes, I've used the map and the technique you are about to say was so "simple" for you

Of all the Veteran badges, the Veteran Ground Defense is by far the hardest to get legitimately without commander stat-padding (and this is evidenced by the low number of awards).

My question ... have any of you gotten Expert Ground Defense without commander stat-padding?

I would love to hear your story ... that's got to be one hard badge to earn legitimately ...

if i had 1.3, i'd have the Veteran one legit

got 11 kills once on Wake, defending the Airfield (it was nice that the US didn't have any snipers )

but Expert without 'cheating'? i'll give someone MONEY if they can do that normally

the ONLY way i can think of doing it, would be to play on a 16 player Wake server, and defend the Airfield the whole time... and hopefully get 20 kills...

I've tried... oh I've tried... I even earned it once, but the server locked up so I never got it.

The way I psuedo-earned it was by whoring the TOW on the first flag on Sharqui and waiting for that one MEC APC to come down to the bridge... I got lucky a couple of times and nailed a loaded Vodnik on it twice.

Oh, I'm sorry ... just what does Artillery have to do with skill with the TOW or MMG? NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any dolt with 10 minutes of BF2 experience can do an artillery drop at Karkand on 20 infantry. It's padding and you know it ....

The badge is meant to be earned by killing shit in ground defense positions

Lol why do you claim its stat padding? Unless those enemys that you are killing with artillery is willing to die on purpose for you to get the badge then its stat padding. Its a fck!ng exploit not stat padding get it rite. My guess is that your mad cause someone got it so easy using the exploit and it took you a sh!t load of deaths or complaining to get.

EDIT: Throwing C4 in the old days was an exploit and ea fixed it almost in the next couple of patches, so unless EA fixes this it will always be an exploit not stat padding.

I'm not calling everything stat padding, I'm merely following the logic of what is stat padding (that is, doing something that doesn't really demonstrate skill).

You can drive a Vodnik into the water and repair it to get a repair badge ... that's called stat padding, but it is allowed in the game. It demonstrates no skill ....

You can get your buddy to bend over while you knife him 7 times to get your knife badge... that's called stat padding, but it is allowed in the game. It demonstrates no skill ....

But, if someone uses arty to claim that they are an expert with Ground Defense or Air Defense or the kit badges, then this isn't padding for your e-bling????? It demonstrates absolutely no skill with the weapon or kit.

Just because most people with expert badges have used this technique doesn't somehow elevate it above padding.

Not what I said ... I said that using artillery kills rather than ground defense kills in order to earn the ground defense badges is padding.

yeah... its actually really easy. Even though I used the commander thing to get it, you can get 20 kills in a GD easy. How? RPK-74 at square. Ive gotten a lot just from that. I mean a few TOW's in an APC here and there, and a bunch of noobs charging square and a good squad defending your east flank and you can get it EASY.

Call me a padder, whatever. It wont hurt my feelings. I got my expert pistol and knife legitly, I killed the 18 people or whatever IAR. It was on a K/P server but i killed them. I got my expert AA and AT/MG by this new technique "commander padding".
