have faith in reason?  Or is it a reasonable amount of faith ...

I think without faith you'll end up finding yourself reasoning everything to death.  You can't be certain of anything ultimately.  Everything is more grey than black or white, so to make any decision, you have to take some measure of a leap of faith.

I agree that without faith there could be very little order but I also think that when order is estabilshed you can benefit from reasoning better than from faith, but 120 years ago I would probably be hung for saying this

After all if it wasn't for science you couldn't shoot teammates out of cobra like you usually do

At least he doesn't have his faith in blind ideologies...

Richard Dawkins is a genius. He really doesn't like religion, but nobody seems to be able to argue against him successfully. Listen to the show, it's real interesting.

(EDIT) fast forward to 25 minutes and watch the discussion he has with a creationist. It's awesome. I thought they were going to have brawl

Faith is the death of free will, for those with Faith submit themselves to their fate unquestioningly.

Reason is the key to unlocking our potential, for even though reason exposes the stark reality of the universe it allows to make the truely brave decisions in life.
