It depends for me i switch all the time...
Say im in the middle of Karkand and on a 64 players server i will be using Full auto.
Ok if i am walking around and i see some dude from some distance away i will quickly switch to Semi auto and take them out as i think that Semi Auto gives more accuracy.

It depends on the rifle I am using and what I am trying to hit.
Semi for long range / proners.
Full auto for CQB and Bhoppers.

Can't vote. I use both. Of course I generally use semi-auto for longer distance shots, and full-auto (pfft... right... full auto... it's more like burst shots) for close-quarters.
The only thing I hate about this technique are those times that I haven't run into an enemy in a while, and I have forgot which setting I was last set to. That usually lands me in more trouble than I'd like, but not often, though.

I switch fire modes so often, I have it mapped to the "Back" side button on my mouse. It's so much easier than reaching up to hit 3.
I semi auto when I have the time to make the shot. But generally Im on full auto. Cant stand burst.
Automatic - if I see someone at long range I have the time to reach up and press 3 before he notices me, but in close-quarters by the time I've switched fire modes, I'm usually dead.

I like both but i prefer semi and butrst for long range and full auto for close quarters combat.
Single shot for long range when the guy hasn't seen me. Double plug for the long to mid range combat and finally full auto from the hip in cqc. Just like I was told to during military service.
I mostly play medic and use the M16A2. I always use semi-auto with the M16A2, but when I use the G36 I use 3rd burst.
I would say full auto unless they are far away then switch to single and they should be dead in 3/4 shots!
