Why don't we here in the USA just call ourselves AMERICAN and do away with African, and Mexican and all other references. At least put American first.

I agree though, I'm American, that is all that is important when someone asks me my nationality. I'm proud of my heritage. But it is just that, my heritage. I'm an American. I may have had relatives that were German or English, etc.. But I am 100% red blooded American and proud of it.

Great debate from all so far except for the African American because he still wants African on front. My point is color or where you came from should be put second when you become an American.
