Ok. Before I start, let me first explain 'random spotting'. Random spotting is when the CO of a team spots an area of the map BLIND. If there is no one there, 'Enemy Forces Spotted' comes up, when there is, the corresponding radio command will appear.

I know that:

1. People in a transport's gunner's seat cannot be spotted
2. Helis/etc. Fast Moving Vehicles are harder to spot.

BUT WHAT THE FUCK IS THE PROBLEM WITH RANDOM SPOTTING? I've had many complaints of 'COMMANDER CAN YOU STFU' when i'm cramping my fingers trying to light up the map for the squads who actually bother flanking and capping back flags, or trying to light up the areas not covered under enemy UAV. For anyone who's actually played in tournaments/scrims will know that spotting/random spotting is your best friend. Its the fastest way to check if a flag is clear, its the easiest way to give your team a heads-up on areas where the enemies are saturated at.

Sure, the non-stop spotting may get irritating, but FFS turn down your radio volume in audio options instead of being a fucking idiot by asking the commander to shut up when he's ACTUALLY doing his job.

There you go.

Not just spotting stuff, spotting stuff REALLY quickly thanks to incredibly quick fingers. And people see a need to whine/abuse me because of it. Wow.
Not
Great success!

It's just kids man. God forbid you're one of 6 commanders online at any given time that's not flying a J-10 and actually trying to help your team out...

I'll contribute a -1 to your cause.

Simply because i've gotten this from people with 500 hours and above. On a regular basis. And they go like 'COMMANDER STFU WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE TO SPOT SO MANY THINGS I CAN BARELY FUCKING HEAR MYSELF'. Yeah its really my fucking problem if you have radio at 100%

better a question mark on the flag than a flag recapped by the enemy - I do it myself and sometimes I'm even lucky enough that my team responds to those spottings

however sometimes the spottings just take overhand - okay if you two failed spotting attempts noone complains but I hate people who think it's fun to replace the ocean on the minimap by 20 red questionmarks...

There's always a reason: As a gunner in a chopper I tend to randomly spot the sky/area ahead to hope to catch the enemy attack chopper with a random spot if he's anywhere within 300m.

As a commander its always nice to try to catch the chopper by repeatedly spotting his position to try to light him up for your team.

How about its fucking annoying. Thats what UAV is for. ANd when you spot people in a remote area no one looks anyway.

Suck my left nipple. That's why idiots like you make life so hard for everyone else. Find me a UAV that covers the entire map and I won't spot.

And just because YOU are a tard that doesn't look doesn't mean 'no one looks anyway'

I would love to have a commander that spots random.  Sometimes I have just capped a flag with my squad and need to see where the next hot spot is.  Red blips near ungaurded flag.  Here I come.  If Commander doesn't like it, he should give me new orders.

UAV great if you only have one hot spot.  2 squads cappin/defending seperate flags you need spotting.  It helps a lot.  Though UAV over one, and zoom in on the other and spot away.

I don't mind random spottings if the person is actually trying to help.  Anyone who calls in "Enemy Boat Spotted!" on Karkand needs to have their balls cut off and shoved up their ass.

Its extremly annoying what a commander spots absolutly everything on the map when the UAV is down/the area outside the UAV when its up. Commanders have the ability to talk to squads via VOIP for a reason that is to tell the squads what is near, wheres enemys are etc, rather than the continuous

'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy units on the move'
'enemy boat spotted'

I especially hate it when, for example, the city entrance is being fought over at sharqi, everybody is fighting there, no MECs are capping flags anywhere else and the commander feels the need to spot everything on the map, like the stuff at the TV station etc. What is the point of it when people arnt even close to that area?

Spotting like nuts just creates too much noise, use the VOIP and only spot where you need to spot, not every single dot on the map.

Agree: No point spotting an area where no friendlies are moving to.

Disagree: After 800 hours of bf2 i have never had an SL pass down my VOIP instructions.

nothing against randomly spotting the sky to get a chopper or something - but you dont spot 20 times in a row if you dont hit something with the first or second spot, do you?

I'm really more refereing to the spot-spammers that repeatedly spot (like 30 times in 5 seconds) - those are unnerving - not the commanders and teamplayers doing their job

I love when ur muted for spotting 2 much. I play sniper more than any other kit and in order to help my team I constantly spot from an elevated position as well as taking shots at the enemy. I get muted every so often and told keep the channel clear. It almost makes u understand y no1 spots the enemy anymore.
