Search for "You killed" - that will find you the line to change._j5689_ wrote:
How do you make it say, "You owned ______." rather than "You killed ______."?
Instead of "There is an error with your connection", I put: "The connection is being retarded"
Go to Edit>Find and type in "You killed" and when it brings it up highlighted, change the 'killed' to 'owned'_j5689_ wrote:

When Amoured Fury comes out tomorrow, are we going to have to redo the localization files again or do you think AF won't touch the stuff - I know 1.3 did.
Most likely will edit those files or add a new one on, most likely add a new one on becuase they are lazy Shouldnt affect much though :Saardfrith wrote:

from what I've read, no. There are more colours used in bf2 but orange is the only one that's set client-side. Other colours, like green for squads, etc. are set server-side and hence you can't use them.
The color codes are different for each but it will still come out orange, any color alterations will be orange. I made a post back in this topic about that already Take a look through
Thank U!

hey im curious, is there anyway to add any if-then-else to these lines or would that just make it all go awry?
like "if (#PLAYERNAME# == CTD-CaptainBuck) then (#ECHO Teh Pwnerer)"
i know thats not exact but i needed an example... kthnx

HUD_CHAT_YOUGOTAKILLSCORE You Killed §C1001#PLAYERNAME#§C1001
According to Original Post.... That should be how to change the text to orange, correct?
I went into BF2 and.... The text is white. Yes, I saved the file.

You probably have your backups in the same folder. BF2 processes all the files in that folder, so if it goes through the backup after it goes through your modified version, the changes get overridden by the backup. Easiest solution is to just move the backups to another folder.MadKatter wrote:

Only thing i think is worth changing is teamkills, so it shows the weapon, and the vote kick/munity/map strings so they dont take up the whole god damn screen
Thanks for your help- I didnt realize a renamed file could still be processed
Fixed.
Fixed.
There is an 'opt out of voting' option in game, but i like your idea of having it shortened accross the screen, maybe in my next pack it will be just like 'Vote kick (name)? pgup:yes pgdn:no' and so forth, i like the way you think +karm for inspiring mefrankhamand wrote:

Hmm...what's up with "[Killed]" still being there, even after I changed the brackets to chevrons ([LAV-25] becomes <LAV-25>)? I can't find it in any of the localization files. Is it server-side?
The '[Killed]' is a localization line on its own, jsut ctrl+f and type in [Killed] then replace with <Killed>
I did that, I couldn't find it.
Few questions.
Is it possible to change the "You killed ____" message for each weapon? Like when I kill with G3 it says "You killed ____" but when I kill somebody with claymore, it would say "You claywhored ____"?
Is it possible to change "You got a revive score" to "You revived [playerhere]"?
What are the color codes?
Is it possible to change "You got a healing point" to "You healed [playerhere]"?

Read back through the topic, i can assure you that everyone of those has been answered atleast once or twiceHacial wrote:

Only I could find is that color is always orange, but couldn't find any others. When I'm talking about that first thing, I don't mean the thing at top-left corner.PunkX wrote:
