Nividia GeForce 6800GT 512 MB
2GB of Corsair DDR2 RAM
AC97 Audio Device
2.53 ghz Pentium 4 Proccesor
Please tell me it is true. All regular BF2 maps I want to run on high settings with a decent frame rate and hardly any video lag.

Yep, I have almost an identical setup except for a slightly better AMD cpu, and I can run on all high.

No, I have 512 RAM and the same video card right now and Im pushing it trying to run all medium and 2x AA but you should be able to get atleast medium or high sound quality out of it. Sorry.

No. 1 dunno if yours will run it, however i know know mine will, my comp is slighty better than yours will be but i run on low, what is the point in making load times longer?? and increasing your ping.

That is why I have the 2 gigs of RAM, very short load times. Should be able to load maps in about 30-40 sec and it will let me play with better grapics. And if you have the possiblity to run on all high and you run on low settings that just dosent make sense. Go get 2 gigs of RAM, around 130$.

I just run mine on Low for less lag but I used to be able to play on med/high

I think that you will run on medium/high settings to get a good framerate. If you are running at 1280x1024 (regular 19'' LCD resolution) and trying to run at all on high your computer may struggle a bit between the processor and the graphics card.

that doesnt make loading a lot faster, a fast hard disk is far more important. (i used to run bf2 with a pc at min possible specs with a raptor and was always first to spawn)

u wnt be able to run on all high not even clos at least with no lag. Put everything to medium and terrain to low and u will be video lag free. I have th same setup as you but jus with a better proccesor and i cnt run all high

Never heard of a 512MB 6800GT. Do you mean 6600, because I know BFG makes those.

Thread revival

OK Im not interested in running all settings on high however I would like to know what settings would be "optimal" for playing.

I have:
AMD 64 3200+
ASUS 9550 256mb Video
1Gb TwinMoss RAM
AC97 sound
2 x 160Gb HDD

I am currently set all on low aside from draw which is at 100% and my load times are horrendous.

Any ideas or tips on set up would be great.

P.S. Im also running a MX518 mouse and G15 K/b anyone have any ideas on if you can map out the comm rose or any particular settings ideas that may help me??

there is no such thing as a 512MB of a 6800 gt. im guessing he got confused with a 6800 ultra, the ultra has a 256 and 512 version. just to clear things up.

No. I have a better PC than that (P4 3GHz) and I can only run meduim/high (but I get 60-90 FPS). The dynamic crap and AA just pwns the 6800 GT.

You can run high on all of the important stuff though (terrain, textures, models, etc.). And hell, the dynamic light/shadows is just annoying anyway and makes it hard to see inside buildings. Plus at 1600x1200, AA is pointless.
