Now I know there are probably plenty of posts that have raised this issue... but...

Half the time now when I log into BF, update the server list, choose a server, watch the game load... and JUST as I click "Join game"... the music starts skipping... and....CRASH

It's like a DJ grabs the Chinese soundtrack or that hot Middle Eastern mix, and just rips it up, causing the game to crash, leaving me staring at my Jessica Alba screensaver.

Why, oh WHY does this happen.

(yes, I have my security / virus scan program OFF)

Audiocard problem I think. Maybe a new driver or go back to an old driver for your audiocard can fix it.

Or... try to change some in your windows audiosettings like the box settings. Mono, Stereo, 5.1 etc..

Well my friend, I think I have the solution for you:

go to my thread http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=29764 follow the instructions every time and you won't even have to hire a DJ anymore, the music will run smooth and you will have no crash.

If something is not clear in the thread or you have questions, please post them there!

Hope this helped!

I'm sure that this is a problem with BF2 or punkbuster.  But, I experience it probably 1 in 40 times that I play (in other words, not enough to really bother me too much) ... not the 1 out of 2 times you describe.

When BF2 is starting, there is a lot of activity as it loads the new map, punkbuster checks stuff, etc.  Probably a lot of disk transfers and the such happening.  But, I have 1.5 Gig of memory, so I'm not doing a lot of paging to the disk.  I'm wondering if I experience this less because I have more memory than you.  If so, more memory might help you here, and at the same time improve your game experience.  Do you have something significantly less than 1.5 Gig?

De_Jappe, I think you're onto something with your solution.  I noticed that if I click on "join game" as soon as it pops up, it's more likely to crash than if I wait a few seconds first.  I'll try your idea, but I'm fairly sure it'll work.  Thanks!

Orange, I think you're also onto something.  I have less memory, and that's likely not helping out much!

Thanks to you both!
