Ok, well I'm going to get a new system for my birthday, and I only need to pay half. I need to know a few things, I have selected three nice budget systems, I just to need to know some facts, like if AM2 is really worth it, or if 2 gigs of ram is worth it on this video card...
So here they are
NVidia system- ABIT KN8 SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB0350 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card
eVGA 256-P2-N553-AX Geforce 7600GT CO 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
Kingston ValueRAM 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory + My other gig of ram
Total Cost = $519.65/2*
ATI system- ABIT AT8 32X Socket 939 ATI CrossFire Radeon XPRESS 3200 ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB0350 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card
SAPPHIRE 100154 Radeon X1800XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 Video Card
MASSCOOL PS-PSU460 ATX12V/ EPS12V 460W Power Supply 90 - 264V UL, TUV, SIMKO, CB.
Total Cost = $677.96/2*
AM2 system- ABIT KN9 SLI Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Orleans 2000MHz HT 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 Processor
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM Unbuffered DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit System Memory
eVGA 256-P2-N553-AX Geforce 7600GT CO 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB0350 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card
Total Cost = $653.09/2*
Now, I want to know if AM2 is really worth it at all, cause I don't want to spend too much money on something that really be much of a difference from socket 939's. Also, you see that I don't include the ram on the ATI system, because I wanted to know if I get the NVidia system, does the extra ram (two gigs in total) help it compete against the x1800xt (one gig of ram)? I'm not changing the processors because I can just overclock also. I also need a sound card, but I already have a PSU, I just need to get a new one if I get the x1800xt, since it requires more power. You may now respond.
*shipping included, but I don't know if there's tax...
