Im thinking of getting another gig of ram in my rig, too make BF2 run a little smoother. Do u think it will run smoother?
Yes, 1 gig is just not enough for BF2.
go for it im running 2 Gig's
well when ever i load the game it runs really choppy. but smooths out later on
I noticed a HUGE difference when I went from 1GB to 1.5GB. I'm sure 2GB will do the the trick quite nicely.
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
go for it
worked awesome for me

well the thing is, i have some extra money, but i dont really feel like spending more money, some cool tweaks for performance would be nice, i checked out that one on help forums
1 gig works
2 gig is better
4 gig

this might really crazy and might scare you but i run bf2 on 756 m.b of ram and have no probs....well untill ea screwed everything up w/ the servers and ect....
1.256 gb im on. still takes its time loadin but game runs ace most of the time
id go with more ram, no tweak can touch actually gettin more of the stuff for bf2, 1gb simply isn't enough overhead for the game
I have 1 gig isntalled, but I am about to put in another gig, what I want to know is this: Can I up my graphics or not and still get a boost in preformacne. I have a GF5600 Ultra.
I too noticed a huge jump up in performance going from 1 GB to 2 GB. 1 GB is simply not enough for BF2.
i heard that lighting is a ram eater, im still thinking of spending 100$ for some more performance
I have 4 gigs...Friluftshund wrote:

I'm about to add 2GBs to my one gig at the end of the month. I'm hopping that I can get rid fo the instablity in the bigging of BF2 maps.
From what I've read, BF2 uses a minimum of 1.5GB of RAM. If you only have 1GB, that means that it's using your HDD for 500MB of VRAM...very slow in comparison. I upgraded to 2.5GB from 1GB and noticed a marked improvement in gameplay, some improvement in load times.
If you are looking for recommendations on memory, I just got done researching/buying mine and can offer some pointers if you wish.

Get 2 gigs. You need it. You deserve it.
While you're shopping, make sure to look at a 10k rpm harddrive. This will help with loads as well.
Lastly, a kickass graphics card will round it all out. I use the 7800 GT OC myself... but there are better ones out now. I'm usually 1st to 5th on out of 64 players.

YES YES YES, It worked great for me, faster map loads, less lag and better graphics.Cohammer wrote:

Pshhht! OBVIOUSLY! More ram is always better, and not only for BF2!
I run on 512mb
I finally up my gigs from 1 to 2, its a world of difference.
spent around 100 us doll Rs.
get the right kind for your system, good luck!

1GB is enough to run the game, if you can tolerate some choppiness in the beginning. I've used that for awhile, and decided to put in some extra 2x512MB DIMMs that I had lying around. Runs pretty smoothly now, but is choppier with higher graphics settings. This is due to the fact that each pair of memory are different models, so the timing climbs a little bit. Another disadvantage is the heat buildup. If you want 2GB of memory, I can really recommend none other than 2x1GB.
i just played on 64 person server, it gets pretty chop when turning fast or getting in vechiles
so why does it say total physical memory 2.75GB?137[CSi] wrote:
