I can see why those not native to english would be confused by the use of that word in this manner. There was another post some time back as to how the word developed that particular menaing, but I don't recall what it was.

i reckon that infantry only option will remove vehicles from maps, exxcept for jeeps. that would be good, although it would increase the noobness in k/p servers, BUT imagine wake with no planes and tanks and choppers!

I guess there's something coming for SF. That would explain why the Airborne Specialist Ribbon has been awarded 3 times already...

Road to Jalalabad sounds like it could be a MEC SF vs. Navy Seals scenario.

Actually, that makes sense. Wake was introduced to BF2 to freshen the game up a bit...give players something new. SF popularity has been steadily declining. What better way to spike interest than to introduce a new map? Also, then the airborne specialist ribbon could very well be obtained, provided there are jets in the map.

Yeah, apparently it doesn't make sense anymore.

"game varient" says BF2, not xpack like it would say if it were an SF map. also, it shows the two armies as being MEC and USMC.

so...looks like a new map for BF2, not SF, with the US facing off against MEC...again.

If the infantry only part turns out to be true, then I would say EA/Dice has listened to the people asking for it. I only remember a petition to not change how squads work.

And yeah i don't think that guy made the map for Ea but it seems a bit weird that he posted that then what do we know a new is being tested (We hope).

Guys . . . Notice on the game monitor server vars section EVERY variable which is important to a server has either a "1" or a "0". Notice how bf2_infantryonly has NOTHING, just like "bf2_coop____" is completely blank. Therefore, this may lead one to believe bf2_infantryonly may be a new game type.

What you are all speculating is that one can turn vehicles on or off. This would only be the case if there were a "0," as the variable status. Leaving it blank explains that the variable or setting is null/void in the scenario the server is running, which is conquest.

In any event, whether it's a new game mode, or some other setting, I'm 99% positive it is NOT going to be allowed for ranked servers, just as coop isn't allowed.

Also, what you are seeing is NOT for BF2:SF. Notice the team1 and team2 variables. It specifically says "US" and "MEC". In order for it to be SF it would have to say "SEAL" vs "MECSF". So if this is a new map, it's for vanilla BF2.

co-op isnt alowd for ranked servers as bots suck and would provide easy kills.

the "taking away of vehicles" or infantry only mode would not give anyway of stat padding that i can think of, so i reckon it will be available for ranked servers
