G5 or MX518?

G'day fellas,

I'm about to buy a new mouse, and im wondering which is better, and what are the differences between the 2?
MX518 is about 50 bucks Australian, and the G5 is 70 or so. Is it worth the extra 20 bucks?

If you need 2 thumb-gropes buy the MX518. I had 2 MX518 and now I have a MX400 (which you can update with Teflon mouse skates).

But if you say "no Iam fine with only 1 Thumb-grope" you can buy the G5, it has the same ergonomic like the 518, it has Teflon feets, and you can change the weight (but thats only toy...)

My expirience in games is - you need two buttons you can handle with your thumb.

- loss of a side button
- loss of wheel click
- costs extra money

MX518 imo, the two side buttons and the wheel click as well as scroll is excellent, you can also adjust the sensitivity in game with the two buttons either side of the wheel, brilliant for when your long range sniping.

MX518

I have the MX510, it's just awesome, the way it fits into your hand, perfect and those 2 buttons for your thumb are pretty cool as well. Does this mouse have the option to get a different DPI fast? I believe the G5 has that, does the MX518 have that as well?

yeah, it has that feature. I too have the MX510 and if you don't want to lose a side button I would get that mouse.

I own a G5 and it fits me good.

It is in BF2 good for sniping.

I haven't used the weights for a long time until 2 week ago or so and it does give it a bit more feeling because its heavier now... still not sure where to put the weights.. so many options.

I have no idea how the MX518 works. I believe that the G5 has lost some fast-shortcut-buttons on the mouse so if you like those you should take the MX518.

G5 pros
- easier with 1 i find
- What?! it clicks still? i think you got that wrong unless i'm missing something
- worthit, if only for the weight distribution and perfection
- i can, bigtime excellent for different situations, low for sniping, mid for pounding, high for turrets:D

WRONG! at least on my G5 i can do a wheel click (currently have pistol assigned to it)

and even though it is only a toy i really like the adjustible weight

Erm, got a G5 here.

It has a wheel click button. You most certainly can tell the difference in dpi, it has got pretty little lights to indicate what dpi setting you're on.

I thought that was gonna be a problem as well, but I've actually used my side button only once or twice the entire time I've had the mouse. I've switched to using side click on the wheel for forward and back and I love it that way.

Im with you man Copperhead rocks!

But I believe the mouse you use is all about personal prefrence. Try going to the store (or friends house for actual game play tryouts if your friend has one of these mice.) and hold the mouse. See what fits you best. Thats my theory anyway.

I just bought a G5 (you don't really want to know the price).
It feels weird, I mean, to the right edge side of the mouse theres a little groove, and on my old mouse, my finger sat right there! I guess ill have to adjust
