Ok, so i started playing Episode 1 today, and i am absolutely stunned. I haven't played that much yet, im only on the second chapter, yet i feels like i've been playing forever.

This game is without doubt the best game i have ever played. I feel so strongly for Alyx. I know that i sound like somekind of geek, but this game is just so well made, and it's taking my breath away. I recommend everybody to try this game out.

So, have anyone else tried it yet? Am i nuts, or what do you think?

Just beat it, took like 2.5-3hours maybe. What a piece of shit.

They didn't answer anything, it was just too freaking short. Pointless waste of time. No new guns, 1 new enemy, ZOMBINES!!!11 Cliffhangar ending of course, stay tuned to next episode which comes out when, 2 years from now?

I hate cliffhangar endings in games, it totally breaks the experience. It took them 2 years to make that? Heh.

It's a super ripoff as well. In a normal game release that cost 50bucks you get multiplayer content as well as a much longer single player campaign that adds loads of replay time.

In this you pay 20bucks for 3hours of gameplay and no mp stuff. Thats 8 bucks an hour.

My current CPH (cent per hour) for Battlefield 2 is:

Cost ($50 base): 7.5318 cph

Compare 7.5 cents per hour to 8 bucks an hour. There goes my faith in Valve.

Garbage

I don't know man,  8 bucks per hour of gameplay compared to 7.5cents per hour for Bf2.

It's just not enough.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay was decent. It was the same old HL2 action i would have loved 2 years ago but really, i need something new. New enviroments, new weapons, new enemies.....anything.

They also did not progress the story at all, no answers for anything just more questions....

man, i'm am soooooooo looking forward to a new romp in the HL2verse, no matter how short it is... i'm jumping on it as soon as I get home work.

...but in terms of episodal delivery, I have to say that SiN:emergence sucks. Paying to expand HL2 a little bit? Yes. Paying the same amount of money for something that is nothing more than HL2 with its soul torn out and a pair of massive jiggly tits grafted on? No. Its just a poor mod imo, there's no way you should to pay for it.

Alyx ftw.

Garbage
sigh...

its called an episode for a reason. MIND YOU ALL there will be 3 of these episodes, each one answering more questions leading up to HL3 and the conclusion of the series. look at it from the writers POV. this is a great idea for games. it keeps people interested in whats going to happen, rather than a mandated release of a whole series

I've beaten it a long time ago. and started playing it with some cheats.

here are some cheat codes for u after u beat the game.

open the developer consul ~

1.type in sv_cheats 1 (this activates the list)
2. sv_gravity 30, 50, what ever u want, (cheack default first so u can change it back.)
3.Its either   God or sv_God can't remember its been a while.

Halflife 2 only took me about a week to beat. Wait till u get to the end. the graphics were so amazing and I almost shat my pants when I played the final chapter.

Apples and Oranges...

Compare your time spent playing Single Player BF2, then compare that to the total time spent playing HL2 in single player.

You have your opinion and i have mine...

I like full game experiences. 2-3hours doesn't do it for me. The gameplay was great but it's way too short and i was dying for more.

It was frustrating

I pray this will lead to a full game halflife 3 but i doubt it since Gabe Newell said that he should have named this HL3: episode 1.

I might just wait until episode 2 & 3 are out and then play them all at the same time. Continuity is important to me.

BTW, cliffhangers are great for story writers because they don't have to finish the story. It's much easier to dangle around meat then to finish the story off. It's the easy way out. Also, what questions did they answer in this? The only thing new was the nihilists in the citadel, the rest i knew from HL2. There wasn't much story development at all.

i dunno, i hear HL3 is going to be a one of a kind FPS. but then again, thats what they are saying about Halo 3 >.<

Well replay value is replay value, no matter what type of game.

If you want me to compare it to a singleplayer game i could mention HL1 & 2. They cost a little over 2x more but i've played through the single player 3-4x each. I loved those games, long epic journeys, the way it should be imo.

I might give episode 1 another try but doubt it tbh.

If this episode thing is something they are trying out then i don't really mind. I'm just scared HL3 will end up in episodes instead of a full game. If it's going to be a full game...

Don't get me started on halo

im downloading right now at 90k/b a second, im going to have to leave my computer on all night for it to download.

I know theres a website somewhere where you can edit secret settings to your internet connection or something, i always have slow downloads but great connection to game servers. does anyone know it?

i played Half life, oposing force, blue shift, hl2, and i cant wait to get my big oily hands on this game, idc if its 3 hrs long the half life series is my favorite video game story,  im going to take my time and not rush through it on noclip which im sure primacord did.

comparing the cost per hour of a valve game to bf2,
you get what you pay for, Valve for quality, dice/ea for shite

the new addition updated the hl2sdk am I right?  For making mods?

The cliffhanger end is vital. Even tho i know that the friendly people at valve are a bunch of greedy capitalists im still gonna buy each episode and play it. I refuse to read about the story. It's like missing an episode of Lost.

you call 3 hours of play then your finished quality?!

When I was a small boy with my sega master system a cartridge came out with a lithum battery {ground breaking at the time) for all the info it would have to save. The game was Phantasy Star, it cost me $80 & took me over a year to end with constant playing, that is quality.

They are trying to turn games into short little movies, that will not do for me but with all the a.d.d kids of today its perfect.

Episode 1 is out?  I have it preloaded through steam but i can't install it.  I look in the store and it says I can "Purchase" it but when I click on that it says "Invalid Subscription".

Anyone know what to do here?
