That's what I heard too, from what I remember Nvidea's cards at the time were in breach of Voodoo's copyright & they were facing a huuugge lawsuit!

So as they were a larger company, they bought Voodoo coz it was cheaper than the fines/compensation were gonna be!!

They then owned the copyright = no lawsuit!!

Had one on them since 1999-2002. Mine can't even play Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast!

A form of SLI has been around for awhile.

I believe they called it "Scan Line Interface" where the two cards would switch off doing every other line.

Scan Line Interleave
Scan Line Interlacing
Scan Line Interface
Scalable Link Interface

Call it what you want but it is just two cards splitting an image and displaying it as a whole.

I believe it was 1998 when SLI was invented...

well I know that nVidia's term is the Scalable Link Interface, I was just saying that Voodoo's was the Scan Line Interface I thought.

I believe it's interleave.

Had a Voodoo 2 in my previous pc, pentium II 300 MHz, 128 gigs of RAM, 7.6 gig hard drive, 4 MB graphics card and... a 16 MB voodoo 2 3D graphics accelerator. And those cards weren't crap, they were top of the line back then.

My friend still has a computer with a Voodoo card installed, he still thinks it's l33t for some reason, I make fun of him everytime I'm at his house.

"3dfx's decline is a matter of debate. Some attribute it to 3dfx lavishly spending on its employees - it reported spending $30,000 just on company lunches and other perks a month, even up to the last two weeks before it went under."
