Whatever happened in the desert was not a hostage rescue, or not to begin with.
Lots of analysis pointing out that Colonels don't fly as weapons officers unless they're supervising an operation on the ground, shoulder launched missiles only take out aircraft at low level, you don't involve "hundreds" of troops, land two C130s and unload four helicopters to rescue one person, this was some other operation which went badly wrong.
Pretty funny that Trump gave all this away with his military cringing behind him.

Glad to see that Israel's invincibility is fully punctured, the air defence system is fairly easily penetrated, much serious damage done, if they do it again they can expect more of the same.
