trump threatening his own allies to secure greenland is so odd. genuinely deluded behaviour. what's the geopolitical play, here? america needs it to protect itself against ... russian ICBMs? to secure rare-earth metals? a new northern sea route for shipping? but trump is closer to putin than most EU technocrats. where's the imminent and credible threat, here?
also, pushing out canada to form new trade deals with china. what a gigantic self-own.
and why shouldn't the EU also move closer to china? let's face it, america is a fading power. it played its hand and gave away the game to china in the era of neoliberal offshoring and financialised phoneyism. it would be in the EU's best interests to hitch its wagon to the continual rise of the new 21st century superpower.
it's not as if the west can stick together against china anymore on broad ideological grounds. post-trump america has almost zero ideological affinity with ordoliberal europe. may as well just go fucking work with the chinese.
