the executive office and executive appointments in US life have always been distinctly whiffy.

it's one of the more troubling aspects of recent british politics, taking its cue from 'murica: appointing people from totally without politics, without vetting, often times to senior cabinet advisory positions or even cabinet itself.

non-MPs being hastily shuffled through the lords with a peerage or given access to the seniormost levels of intelligence, or getting their hands on the bureaucratic levers ... not good actually, despite what dominic cummings and your technocratic eggheads want.

So far I know 2 people at the EPA whose jobs were cut but then picked up by a different department. Republican efficiency.

The interview was good. You can hear his father's way of speaking and tone especially later in the interview.

I can understand how he got his roles on various boards and committees. Obviously nepotism helped but he probably could look the part and even do some of the work when it comes time to perform.

His personal life is wild. Got his brothers widow hooked on crack. I can't even judge him for any of it. All of the drugs and sex are the reason to do any of this nonsense.
