how encouraging that the technical experts who would presume to run the universe on our behalf have such atrocious taste and so little sense of what is good and desirable.
How remarkable that self-proclaimed experts have no perspective whatsoever.uziq wrote:

nobody lacks perspective on what MIDI does or its importance to the history of electronic music.
people know about popcorn - it has been MIDI sequenced, sampled, ripped and adapted into about a thousand dance songs.
you don't seem to understand how art forms evolve and develop, and how inspiration works through generations.
'mike oldfield did this on tubular bells', 'this sounds like a moog from the 1960s' ... yes, well done. those albums still exist.
MIDI is still used a tool in every producer's studio in the world. it's an integral part of connecting gear together and making music on a computer today. but listening to MIDI tunes is like listening to the sibelius software's MIDI parping instead of ... recordings of sibelius, the composer. it's fucking borderline insane, lol. have fun listening to your tech demos and "10 dorra, good time" karaoke tunes though.

didn't realise you liked north-eastern asian music, dilbert.
Definitely south asian.

weird how you pay attention to geography when mohammedans are involved.
Islam is the most modern and progressive of the Abrahamic Religions.
You should look into it.
Also some of the music isn't bad.

it's reassuring in a way that you know as little about comparative religion as anything else leftward of plant biology.

there is actually quite a sizable muslim community in korea. there is also a very strong axis of alliance and feeling between koreans and turkey – indeed, all turkic people, stretching across the central asian silkroad to the korean peninsula. a lot of this feeling in contemporary times comes from the fact that turkey sent quite a large contingent of UN troops in the korean war (look up the Şimal Yıldızı).

there's a lot of russian speakers in the koreas, including as you might expect russian-speaking peoples of the turkic and uralic types. a lot of asian-looking russians and turks, in fact ... that normally involves an encounter with islam. many kazakhs, for instance, are indistinguishable from koreans (or mongolians, say), except that they're muslim and speak russian. you'll find large communities of them in more 'working' cities around seoul, like incheon.

there's an 'islam-ro' in the social centre of seoul, in itaewon, meaning 'muslim road'. all muslims there, with a mosque overlooking the entire northern bank of the han river. the area is vibrant and celebrated in seoul, with yearly street carnivals.

one of the more notable boulevards in gangnam, their financial elite district, is called 'tehran-ro'.

it's amazing what actual knowledge of places does for you, rather than trading on extremely vague and biased stereotypes. ('korea and japan are racist ethnostates that practice the sort of homogenity and purity of which i most approve!!!')

the world is wonderful and complex, and doesn't fit into the neat little boxes devised in your parent's shed. who knew?
wait until you read about how much thomas jefferson admired the quran.
