i mean, mike tyson has said some funny things, but i'm not going to base standards of civic discourse on a street thug who solved all his problems with his fists. i don't think verbal altercations should escalate to physical violence. especially outside of the boxing ring. punching someone who has 'disrespected' you might be the way of life on the streets; but it's also a shortcut to long terms in prison. a single punch can kill or seriously maim someone. do you want to give someone brain damage because they said a mean word? ehm, no. this is stupid.

i'm fine with laws existing against forms of verbal harassment or common assault. let there be punishments and commonsense restrictions on 'free speech'. let hate speech be decried and ostracised. raising hands every time someone makes you angry or frustrated? no.

IIRC he was thankful his mother died because then he could go get in street fights without being babied. Then I guess he cried about her later? I dunno, concussions are weird.

He had a funny cartoon though, and people are cool with the ear biting thing now. That makes it ok.

e: Hopefully he doesn't fly to my house to punch me in the face.

i actually don't hate mike tyson. i think his character arc has some positives. i am not going to dunk on a guy with his biography. but it's definitely not a model worthy of emulation. violence is never the answer blah blah blah.

I think he recovered from disgrace more successfully than other fallen actors and athletes. But I'm not onboard with Tyson memes, and don't have patience for people who fully buy into that remodel. I'll take his advice when it comes to how to throw a punch, though not who to throw a punch at.

Seem to recall the media, public, and a number of boxing fans made mincemeat of the black woman he was convicted of raping. Her family caught in the social crossfire, and herself pushed into practically a hermit lifestyle. Conversely, a big deal was made of his race and the unfairness of his trial. "Poor Mike had a hard life. The odds stacked against him!" To Washington: "It's your fault for thinking it was safe." Er, meaning it … wasn't safe?

!!

I know people who support Tyson, Cosby but have no patience for OJ. "Oh, he definitely did it, did you see that smirk?" Weird how that works out. Some random unarmed black guy gets crushed to death by a cop, "oh well he shouldn't have resisted."

erm both are codified crimes. what’s the difference? there are de jure limitations on forms of speech. ‘free speech’ covers your right to individual expression. it doesn’t cover you if you decide to make someone fear for their life ffs.
Whats funny is how many times you've been banned from this forum for harassment and inciting people to kill themselves.

In some countries thats a crime by itself.

The Colorado shooter’s dad: “I praised him for violent behavior really early. I told him it works... You’ll get immediate results.”

He then went on to praise the Colorado shooter’s grandpa, a MAGA Republican politician named Randy Voepel who supported the January 6 insurrection.

What a messed up, maladjusted life. Threatens mother with a bomb, gets away with it. And with upbringing by his above father in mind, he's going to go to court addressed as Mx. with "they/them" pronouns.

lmao arguing on an internet forum under pseudonyms is not 'harassment'. harassment is having your personal life invaded and feeling unsafe.

you can log off this forum at any time. you voluntarily come here every day to argue, or post racist invective.

for a tough guy wannabe paratrooper you really are a pussy.

i never incited anyone to 'kill themselves', either. that is abhorrent. i know people who have committed suicide. and, yes, it is rightfully a crime when people cajole and encourage people to go through with the act. but to liken bf2s trolling to urging someone to jump or pull the trigger is just pathetic. you are a grown man ffs.
