So the 25 year old had a panic attack at work.
This girl has a Michelle Phifer syndrome. Wants to save the world.
She is depressed, has anxiety, and something else I forgot. Calls herself neuroatypical.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neurotypical
She is a mess but she is pretty. Her boyfriend is an unemployed bipolar recovered drug addict with a conviction for fraud. Money is tight right now. They are renting a two bedroom apartment in the ghetto city since the girl has a dog and two cats plus multiple fish tanks and exotic plants. She blows all her money on fish and underwater plants. Can't budget for her life. There are obviously other things about her that are screwy. Girl is crazy. Ivy League crazy. I mean literally. She graduated from Columbia's teacher college.
Anyhow, she had a panic attack today. She likes to engage the kids in conversation where she can be their life coach or something. The kids then tell her stuff that I don't want to hear. I am a mandatory reporter and not an investigative journalist. Yesterday in one of her talks with the kids, the kid tells her some strange bullshit and the 25 year old responds by reporting it.
Stupid. Don't try to be friends with 14 year olds. And don't go reporting some off the book bullshit. Anyhow, reports are made and all of that nonsense. They yanked the 25 year old and the kid and a guidance whatever into the hallway to have a talk. And the 25 year old made the 14 year old cry. I think she tried to give her a heart to heart pep talk and the kid was justifiably like "wtf it is no big deal".
The 25 year old now felt bad. She brought a bag of candy for all of the teachers in our pod (6) as well as two different types of candy (chocolate and sugary) for the kid to pick. She wanted to apologize for breaking confidence and exploding a nuclear bomb in her life. The kid is in the PM session and there is a lunch between the two sessions. The 25 year old and me walked to Dunkin Donuts together like we often do. I think the summer walking plus the creeping apology she needed to make made her sick. She left work before the kid showed up because she was so nervous about the apology that she didn't need to make. She wrote the kid an apology letter since she couldn't do it in person and was going to ask another teacher to give the kid the letter and candy. Before she walked away with the letter I asked to see it. I skimmed it and told the 25 year old "I strongly suggest you not give them this. Literal paper trail." She then agreed since I would know better. She asked to give the kid the candy and I told her to put it away and not give it either. She complied and packed up her stuff after I told her "You did everything you need to do. Sometimes you have to make peace with the world." Make peace with the world is something I had told her before in a conversation. Anyhow, she left work. I told her to just claim the hours because nobody will narc on her for skipping early.
I would be interested in what Newbie thought of how I handled the work situation. I feel like I gave good advice. Anyway, next week is the last week of summer school. I am going to invite her to smoke pot at my place on the last day. If she comes over and gets high with me I am confident we will end up having sex.
