I think this is the last time Republicans let abortion go to vote in their states. NYT said based on their updates predictions, 4 out of 5 states would protect abortion rights if it went to vote.

Both a surprising and not surprising outcome. Not surprising since it turns out that bottling up the sexual revolution isn't something people want to do when given the choice. Surprising since I expected there to be a lot more voters who are weird about sex and want to limit abortion.

The pivot I've seen re: Kansas now is "See? The states decided, just as we always intended", pretending they only had an issue with the federal-level  part of it rather than protecting them zygotes. I imagine a decent amount of Republican leaning voters would have an abrupt smack in the face if they came up against the GOP dreamworld/hellscape.

Surprisingly I haven't heard that angle yet from conservative friendos. One belabored the horror of 9mo abortions, easy counter asking how relevant it is to earlier stage and lifesaving abortions. Even he acknowledged (actually brought up) that it was stupid that we have no push for maternal leave from "pro-lifers." I could have gone off on a huge cynical tangent, but places to go, things to do.

highly normal society.

in what moral universe is it worse to flush out a tangle of bloody cells than it is to drop an actual child into a fucking letterbox? lmfao.

Blinked a few times. That is surreal. It's not sattire?

Reminds me of a book return slot. Mike Pence Public Babrary. Deloused of liberal germs, tazed to ward off homosexuality, and shelved for the hordes of conservative parents eager to come rescue them to create more loyal, Christian voters.

"Why isn't anyone coming to rescue them?"

abortions were delegalized in korea a few years ago.

insofar as they have any of that shit, it's pretty much the influence of bug-eyed crazy evangelicism that was transplanted here from american missionaries anyway.

you no doubt know better than i whether this is decriminalization or delegalization. i am not using the terms with a scholarly attention to detail.

e: you're right, it was decriminalized. no idea why i used the original word.
