A Victorian man who killed an associate after an argument over Nazi-era guns and ammunition has been found not guilty of murder after a court found he acted in self-defence.

Jarrod Frank, 43, fatally stabbed Scott Bury in Bendigo in 2018 after the pair quibbled over the type of ammunition used in German military pistols used in World War II.

After the two men, who had met outside a Cash Converters, debated over the type of ammunition calibre, they decided to settle the dispute with an internet search at Mr Bury's unit.

After the search, Mr Frank told Mr Bury, "Hey bitch, there you go," to which Mr Bury responded: "You called the wrong bloke bitch in the wrong house."

An enraged Mr Bury went to the kitchen and picked up two kitchen knives, sharpening them, while reportedly threatening Mr Frank.

A fight broke out in the house and then continued in the driveway, where Mr Bury also armed himself with a metal pole.

Mr Frank told police after the incident he thought he was in a fight for his life.

"We were tussling around on the ground and I turned it around on him because he was trying to get it into me," Mr Frank told detectives, referring to the knife Mr Bury was armed with.

Mr Frank fled the scene before realising while Mr Bury had suffered a stab wound in his abdomen, which he later died from in hospital.

It is, except average age is lower and IQs are a lot higher.

Now I want to know what detail of ammunition those two were arguing about.

Wait, are you characterising an entire people based on the history of a small minority from 200 years ago?

are you characterizing a rich and diverse biome extending some 175,000 square kilometres by small and isolated instances of surface deoression?!?

Saw on this on the World War 2 sub reddit. It made me think how Paradox games really mess with your perception of war. I never felt with I was doing anything momentous when I was fighting battles in Hearts of Iron 4. Like I never considered that I started the Holocaust when I defeated Poland. It was just moving numbers around a screen.

The events popups and response buttons are a bit bland. Is there even mention of the holocaust in the game? I would definitely think that was scrubbed out lest Paradox be accused of providing Neo-Nazis with an extermination simulator (nevermind global thermonuclear war).

Shuffling numbers is probably how some Nazi officers saw what they were doing as. With an exception of Dr. Mengele, who got a big kick out of things.

The game does in fact scrub any mention of the Holocaust. I believe they also banned mods that incorporated it.

One also really stupid thing the game did was have an event that added Heinrich Himmler as a general because he wanted to raise SS units. But Himmler as a general is the worst available because his base stats are all 1 and he doesn't have any traits. So they added him in but you shouldn't use him because he is bad. I think it may also kick off an event chain the leads to the July 20th plot. I don't think I ever got those foreign SS units anyway.

Also the game allows you to view province populations but not affected them in anyway. I dropped a nuclear bomb on Moscow and the population didn't change at all. I guess they didn't want people to find ways to simulate Holocaust. That reminds me of Victoria 2 that had many ways to commit genocide without it being a game feature.

Anyway, the more I think about the game the more disappointed I get. I was having a lot of fun until it went full retard when World War 2 (the meat of the game) actually started.

Meanwhile, titles like Plague Inc. and Defcon "score" you based on population decrease. Himmler as a general makes zero sense. He should be an advisor or an event.

On a UMC playthrough, I found Mexico to be more interesting than the usual choices. Some names in there I had to wiki to refresh myself on. Surprised it didn't have a generic focus tree.

Himmler as a general makes some sense since the Waffen SS was under his technical control. There are even a handful of SS generals to pick from. But the SS doesn't exist at all in the game. Some units can have the name SS but there is nothing special about them aside from that.

I mean in terms of gameplay mechanics, it doesn't make sense to have him as a general. He should be a flavor event or advisor "placed in charge" to unlock new units. Anyway most games dealing with WW2 are going to be a little touchy on the German side of things (less on the Japanese), I think that's to be expected. I don't even remember if you can put Japanese-Americans in camps as the US.

Watching World War 2 week by week. In retrospect the Nazis were the good guys when they fought the Russians. Shame about all that other stuff.

~30-ish is about at the age where he should (definitely) lay off that triple-shot Starbucks, a crash-ridden crutch. Rather go on a brisk jog or something before work. Go to bed on time and hit up the gym more often. Eat something other than microwave dinners. Heart will probably thank him.

one of the staggering things about the global pandemic is that, even with the sky-high rates of morbidity in america and the very patent fact that obesity, diabetes, poor diet and nutrition, etc, are huge comorbid factors, not more people have been spurred into getting fit or addressing their diets.

first year of the pandemic i didn't drink any alcohol at all. shutdown was a nice excuse to cut it out completely. did nothing except work out and exercise at home, for the benefits to mood/motivation more than anything else during a very tedious/stressful time. by contrast, i saw so many people take to upping their alcohol intake at home, eating poorly, obviously not getting out-and-about ... so many people have visibly gained weight during the pandemic.

you'd think being at increased risk of death or serious life-long complications would have helped people fix their ideas.

The pandemic is depressing. Junk food is comfort. I wouldn't be surprised to see stats suggesting that (in some cases) consumption grew more problematic over the last couple years.

Even among the ostensibly "middle class" people, there's a surprising (to me) amount of people who have fast food as a regular part of their diets. Even more bougie people do so and just go to snootier places. One of my coworkers would alternate between the nearby KFC, McDonalds, and Subway for lunch basically every day. Others dine out a few times a week because they're "too lazy" to make something. Expenses aside, it just seems like a pain in the ass. Maybe they haven't seen a history of cardiovascular issues growing up like my family did, but I cannot fathom trying to stay healthy while doing that.
