for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.

Maybe the kid was violently embarrassed for everyone involved. Hard to watch to the point of physical pain.SuperJail Warden wrote:
If you read the description on the video the kid complained that they "felt like violence was being committed against them". Good lord.
The kid will probably be moved, the teacher quietly reinstated after a dressing down, and life goes on but with this lady being probably embittered towards Native Americans. Mission accomplished?
That makes more sense in terms of teaching historical injustice, but still makes my alarm bells go off.My boss told me a story about a social studies group project at some state event way back when (but not ancient history) where the black kid was put up for auction. The story was a warning to "not do anything that will put you on CNN or Fox News".
No, I voted remain, and if there's a new referendum, I'll be voting no.uziq wrote:
you and your brother voted for brexit didn't you? if i recall correctly?
and you'll now probably vote for scottish independence now that brexit is delivering the shit sandwich you asked for.
scots need to be taught the idiom 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth'.
hmm i remember that little turncoat finlay spreading anti-english sedition in the public spaces of yonder realm.Camm wrote:

I'm just salty that I had to pay an extra 10 grand in tax to the SNP just to own a second home in Scotland.uziq wrote:

Do you think she deserves to get fired? Lose her license? Do you think it is okay for her name to be on Google forever as a "racist"?unnamednewbie13 wrote:

If she comes out of the experience embittered, then maybe she'll have taken the wrong lesson. That's not the kid's fault. Where in the curriculum does it tell math teachers to put on a headdress and whoop around class? Did she adopt a native religion? Does she go to the events?
What was the point of this? Was she counting steps? Three hops to the right and a spin, "MATHS!" To what end? Imagine if a teacher did a blackface minstrelsy in the middle of a chemistry class.
People have had generations to change. I'm tired of hearing cautionary tales about how this will alienate people to blacks, or that will alienate people to gays.
Do kids still make cardboard feathers and do stupid Thanksgiving stuff? That makes more sense in terms of teaching historical injustice, but still makes my alarm bells go off.My boss told me a story about a social studies group project at some state event way back when (but not ancient history) where the black kid was put up for auction. Because I wanted a family home, not a small holiday cottage.uziq wrote:

if you're into 'second home' territory why in the fuck wouldn't you buy in a nice place like dorset or cornwall?
or is your ambition in life to become a slumlord?
No. She doesn't strike me as racist so much as oblivious. But this would have probably raised some eyebrows when I went to school. There's a lot of years of people wanting this sort of thing to stop, and it all went over her head.SuperJail Warden wrote:

Part of the issue with this stuff is that the punishments are often overboard. There is no way to make things right. People don't even accept apologies.
The teacher and the kid can't be in the same class. Transferring the kid(s) would be seen as retaliation against the kid(s) and would make the situation much worse.unnamednewbie13 wrote:
You're going into admin, what would you recommend if an apology doesn't work? Transfer the student to another class or school? Or transfer the teacher to another school?

https://news.yahoo.com/california-teach … 25060.htmlIn another clip, she is seen sitting cross-legged on her desk, appearing to pray to a "water goddess" while stifling laughter.
