Pretty likely that if there were a bat-flu outbreak in my neighbourhood people would behave themselves, not go to cafes and hold parties, so the police wouldn't need to send patrols and if they did they've have nothing to do, most people would be pleased to see police patrolling - its only lawbreakers who feel persecuted when they see police.

Meanwhile the ethnics are moaning about racism having probably never even been to Bondi.

NSW Police target parties and illegal gatherings amid COVID lockdown, with 167 PINs issued

Parties and gatherings have been a major source of new COVID-19 cases in NSW, as the ultra-infectious Delta COVID-19 variant spreads despite NSW's lockdown.

A birthday party in West Hoxton — held before the lockdown, on June 19 — has been linked to 45 infections.

A gathering at another Meriton Suites, at Waterloo, which was held on the first day of Greater Sydney's lockdown, has so far been linked to 35 cases, with 10 new infections identified on Friday.

Yeah I don't know, don't hold parties or something

People here are well-behaved, hence we don't have any outbreaks, so its somewhat a circular argument.
According to a Police guy I know my state has issued a grand total of five infringement notices since this began.

If your neighborhood got an excessive police presence but the neighborhood on the other side of town, similarly afflicted by the virus, did not, would you not see that as annoying? I know you're a scientist who hates hypotheticals, but bonus points if you and your neighbors belonged to a group of people traditionally harassed and overpoliced, and that other neighborhood did not.

Tons of white Australians still openly defying lockdowns and shelter-at-home requests just like last year, but you'll probably hone in on Indian restaurants as the Big Offender.

As a side note, it seems restrictions in my state have relaxed to the point where some businesses will say you don't need a mask inside if you're fully vaccinated. There are no card checks, so that is easy to lie about. Still no thermal checks, so you can also lie about not being sick.

I was in an office store the other day with these loosened restrictions. Most of the employees still had masks. Those giant plastic shields were still at checkout. However, the plastic shield does not go behind the card reader (which people will stand behind to use and have direct cough-to-worker access. This is the case for pretty much everywhere I've seen those plastic shields. el oh el.

62% of the state has had at least one dose, with 55% fully vaccinated. (https://usafacts.org/visualizations/cov … washington)

Well according to the article you posted the Police at Bondi did fine plenty of people so it wasn't hands off.

IIRC There was one day of misbehaviour at Bondi then the Police locked it down.

Sydney has had weeks of lockdown and still they won't stop holding parties and visiting relatives so yeah the Police are going to get involved in the ethnic areas.

With all the new variants popping up it's hard to see when and if there's going to be an end in sight with this pandemic nightmare.

vaccines are still so far effective. we need to hold off widespread re-opening until vaccines are distributed — and that unfortunately means globally.

The pandemic is over. Reopen everything. People without shots in the U.S. at this point are conscientious objectors. If they get sick it is on them.

Except that still leaves immuno-compromised people vulnerable to the idiots. Once the vaccines meet FDA approval, I wouldn't object to them being made mandatory. Of course, F in chat for political careers.

Once my state relaxed the mask mandate for vaccinated people, usage sure seemed to drastically plummet, even if it's still encouraged. I know I'm fully vaccinated, but when I walk into the store and see nary a mask in sight, I do wonder exactly how many are truly in that same boat.

I commented on that a few posts back. Stores with "no mask needed if you're vaccinated" are basically running on the honor system. Nobody's checking for vax cards. It's probably just slipping some people's minds, as they walk towards a store and see nobody wearing a mask to remind them to go back to the car for theirs. So they just figure screw it.

I would (also) love to see masks become the norm in the states throughout flu season. If only they weren't so heavily politicized in 2020. Thanks, Obama.

The next problem here is returned citizens can home isolate if they have a vaccine certificate.

So indians will be coming in with fake certificates and 'isolating' in a house with ten other people.

Meanwhile two weeks into a lockdown people won't stop holding large gatherings.
https://www.sbs.com.au/news/warning-iss … g-lockdown

So they're easily going to have another month of lockdown,  maybe longer.

That they can't be trusted to be honest or behave themselves is the bigger problem.

As the Delta variant rapidly spreads, US hotspots have seen climbing cases – and an expert warns a “surprising amount” of Covid-19 deaths could soon follow.

The US is averaging about 19,455 new cases over the last seven days, a 47% increase from the week prior, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. And a third of those, CNN Medical Analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner said, come from five hotspots: Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Nevada.
4 out of 5 are 'you can't tell me nothing' states and also Sin City.

France is mandating vaccination. Can't enter public places without a certificate, healthcare employees who won't get vaccinated will no longer be employed or paid after september 15th.

Nutjob & conspiracy idiots all over are having a collective meltdown. They're likening vaccination to the david stars and are predicting an imminent repeat of the holocaust, also calls for a 'new french revolution'. It's encroyable.

All kinds of people lie about vaccines and health stuff, dilbert. Forging a issue card to try and get out of wearing a mask was one of the memes of 2020. Spoiler alert, a lot of them were whites.

It doesn't seem particularly useful to single out Indians in this regard. Why not bring them home and vaccinate them where it can be properly "certified," rather than hold them at arm's length and whinge about them PoSsIbLy LyInG.

A Western Australian man has been jailed for at least two months for booking tradespeople to work on his house while he was supposed to be quarantining after returning from interstate.

The 53-year-old man arrived in Perth from Brisbane on 27 June. He was ordered to quarantine for 14 days and said he would quarantine at his home in Scarborough.

In addition to tradespeople, the man also invited members of the public to his home to buy items he had been selling on an online platform.

Being suspicious that you might be getting a heavier amount of patrols more due to local ethnicities and historical patterns involving that than to actual risk factors or virus activity sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

I don't know the ethnic dynamics of Australia in comparison to the U.S. There were stories in our news bemoaning police going into the hood to break up basketball games in spring 2020. I don't know how to feel about that. On the one hand, if you don't go into the hood and instead leave them to their own devices, the places would be perpetual COVID hotspots. On the other hand, there were a lot suburban pig people who needed to be told to suck it up and wear your damn mask.
