@mac yeah, that really sucks. I'm not convinced it does much good to cancel all that stuff for kids when adults are going back to business as usual. Just more bitter resentment and compliance-weariness.

the governments of western nations already 'force' vaccines for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and tuberculosis on schoolchildren generally. one needs a damn good reason to except one's child from the de rigueur 'TB jab' in the UK.

Heartlessly keeping Australians stranded in other countries is obviously a better solution than people getting vaccinated for that holy grail of herd immunity. Big of me to criticize though considering states here are having to bribe people to get the thing.

Most of those people either never really lived here or left the country by choice for spurious and trivial reasons knowing it would be next to impossible to get back. Now they're in literally the worst affected place in the world and coming here would put the whole country at risk.
They were stupid and their selfishness has caused multiple lockdowns and cost the country billions.

Pretty well six months without transmission here, I'd be fine with keeping the borders shut a while longer and fine-tuning the vaccines, not rushing it so we can 'open up travel' for the travel junkies.

That closely matches the ratio for my gaming buddies. Among those who haven't got it, a common theme is they'll let other people "take the risk" first. Of course when herd immunity suffers for it, the vaccine will be labeled ineffective in their eyes.

It's been awhile since I got my Pfizer. Where's my Microsoft uplink? My magnet superpowers?

The government here has agreements for enough Pfizer to cover everyone. And enough Astra, and Janssen and J&J to cover everyone. So 20 million full vaccinations worth for 5 million people. A multiple redundancy approach to security of supply.
