You don't need to have the SS in the streets forcing people inside their homes to have had a better response than Trump provided. Again and again I will point out that there should have been absolutely no shortages of medical equipment and PPE in our country. Schools shouldn't be scrambling to find money in the budget to modify schools to be COVID safe. These are all easy things to do. Trump just doesn't care to actually do any of it.
Ok. And again and again I will point out that it takes time to produce stuff, especially when Chinese buyers scooped up everything off the shelves and shipped it back home right before the pandemic hit us. It's not normal to need a billion masks overnight. And as for schools, they always claim poverty. They'll do what they always do, cut sports and after school programs and beg for more tax increases to pay your superintendent another 50k/yr.
Assuming the Chinese did steal everything (???), what's wrong with the federal government producing things like school bus COVID modification kits, facemask for children returning to schools, classroom modification supplies, etc. Why do schools need to cut programs instead of getting money from the federal government who had time to come up with $3 trillion for corporations but none for schools?
Where's New Jersey's rainy day fund? You have the second or third highest taxes in the country and your state still has tens of billions in unfunded liabilities.

This is whataboutism. The federal government is the only one with the resources to provide all of that stuff with complete ease compared to our wars and other stuff we have been up to lately. Producing and distributing that stuff would in fact help bring the economy back too. The problem is once again, Trump. Does. Not. Care.

Not really about Trump in this case. You could say that Mitch McConnell refuses to bail out blue state governments, and that would indeed be true. You could say the conservative establishment is also against bailing out poorly run state governments who were overly generous to their public sector union workers, and were on the point of collapse before the COVID stuff, and that would also be true.

Trump is leader of the Republican party. It would be his job to rally his party to do what is in the best interest of the country. There is no way you can explain away his dereliction of duty.

I got fucked over when the tax cuts came and my SALT deductions were capped. It wasn't fair then, and their excuse was they wanted to put pressure on states that tax too much to lower their tax burden. Why would I expect any different now? You aren't their constituent. The teachers don't vote Republican. Why would the Republicans bail out the teachers union or the state workers unions? That's like asking me to expect Pelosi or Schumer to bail out oil companies. If you weren't so highly partisan politically, maybe you could expect bipartisan support.

Oh okay. It's my fault Republicans hate our states and don't want to help.

And the fact that you still defend the party that raised your taxes to punish people like me is funny. You might as well vote Democrats because the GOP obviously doesn't care about you.

herman cain posted some tweet about holding a rally and not being forced to wear a mask. 'people are sick of it!'

herman cain now has covid-19. i presume he'll want top-notch medical care from frontline hospital staff who are exhausted and running ragged because of people like him.

Imagine the Stockholm syndrome required to defend a president and party that raised your taxes to punish your state. Trump has done worse than nothing for Jay. He actually knowingly and purposefully hurt him. Yet still Jay defends him throughout the thread and elsewhere.

who knows, maybe trump is trying with everything he can to combat covid, but in private. he doesn’t want credit. he’s playing golf out of modesty and humility. trump really is dying to save america from covid. it’s just not his leadership style to boast.

Trump gets daily tests. His staff are tested regularly. Any body that comes in to contact with him is surely tested prior to interaction. I'm willing to bet the press close to him are also tested regularly.

Testing for me but not for thee.

Frankly, I have no idea what Trump has done and I don't expect to ever get a real answer. Everything you and I get is filtered through a media that hates the guys guts and has every reason to make him look bad. The guy might have been trying his ass off in private. Who knows?

i mean, it’s not like the scientific and medical community would have said something if trump was actually hunkering down and coordinating a crisis response off the sweat of his brow. if he was bringing together the best minds and talents to confront this thing, head on, with the full executive powers available to him. pretty sure that would have become known despite the ‘liberal media’.

instead it looks like he ghosted fauci for a month and stopped answering his calls. maybe it’s just an extra-good management technique. i wonder if this is in ‘the art of the deal’?

remember guys, only liberals from marxist college campuses and antifa who want to see the world burn manipulate and set bombs under the idea of ‘objective truth’. it’s a despicable cultural relativist subterfuge! these people don’t believe in anything, they abhor all values, they are the worst of the worst.

but hey, who really knows what trump is up to? ultimately he is unknowable. i don’t think anyone can ever really honestly assess what the president is doing. he’s basically god. it’s inscrutable. it lapses over into the realm of theodicy. do not look at him in the face! it is like rays from the sun. we can only guess at the flickering shadows his actions cast.

The laziness and lack of imagination of Trump and his administration is astounding. The Bush administration basically rode 9/11 for everything it was worth. Trump couldn't even be bothered to manage the crisis let alone use it to do anything else he always wanted to do. This COVID disaster was much more simple and easy to counteract than 9/11 too. It's really amazing that Trump is the most incompetent man to handle a once in a 100 year crisis/opportunity.

By now there's such a ginormous mountain of evidence underpinning the notion that Trump is incompetent you have to be blind not to see it. Are you waiting on the braille translation? Even his parade projects like trade protectionism and the wall are provably terrible - damaging the competitive position of US domestic industry because of tariffs on steel or sinking billions in an easily circumvented line on the map..

Not wearing a mask, so you don't look much like a steer to me. That sort of narrows it down now, doesn't it?
