In the EU you're lucky if you get to speak every hour. 3 minutes per country and if it's a topic everyone needs to vent an opinion on it'll be a fun roundtable. Intergovernmental meetings are epically boring.

The Asian American vote was getting more blue before this whole thing started. There were still a lot of Asian people who voted Republican for lower taxes or some misplaced admiration for white people conservative values. Asian voters were more blue than Hispanics but less so than blacks. While individual acts of racism towards Asian people for spreading the "China virus" (Trump's words) is wrong, if it turns Asians into reliable Democrats then that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.
But will there be any asian-americans at the end of this?

So they took their guns and got in their trucks to go get him. They ended up shooting him after a scuffle. To make the story worse, the local police did not arrest or charge the group because they said they acted in self defense, one was a former cop, and they were relatives of the local DA. A new prosecutor said she is taking it to a grand jury, a process I can explain to non-Americans if you are confused.
This is the Trayvon Martin thing all over again. I thought Zimmerman was guilty there too. You can not instigate an confrontation and then kill the person. Trayvon and the jogger both had a right to self defense that people conveniently ignore.

i don't know enough about the biden/black community context, i get the feeling that he has a long and storied political career and you can probably spin any number of things he's done either and both ways, but yes, it's true that the logic of 'wokeness' leads to something like a viper's nest. they glee in catching one another out and being more pious. that's why i don't really consider it left and more a sort of liberalism, because it's so rooted in individual ethics/performance and in very small cliques.

I actually laughed out loud when I read the headline. “Well I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.” I thought it was a funny "telling it like it is" moment. In more practical company it would be a "Biden keeps it real moment".
