WW2 had the highest ratio of armed forces to population (I think it was around 10% of total pop).  Using today's population (and assuming a 50/50 split of men and women enlisting/conscripted), that's 1.5M women out of 150 million.  I'm assuming you understand math since you aren't poor, but just in case, that leaves a lot of women babymakers left.

That assumes any new war would buck the historical trend of using less actual soldiers (in relation to the size of the population) than before.

I can't recall ever taking a sociology class in my life. 

I read about 30 books a year.  A somewhat even distribution of non-fiction and classical literature.  The last book I read was Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy.  He's probably my favorite contemporary author.  I was debating with myself whether or not I want to dive into Ulysses again.  I'll let you know. 

I'm also going to read some Hemingway in the next two weeks to prepare me for Pamplona.

no. what happens is we leave the EU and become a country more like albania, or somewhere in the balkans. we leave one set of protectionist trade rules and treaties and de facto enter into the nexus of world trade agreements that are far less advantageous for the UK labour force. great idea.

there's a strong chance that, if the UK as one of the 'major players' pulls out of europe, it will set a precedent for ultra-nationalists to gain traction in every other major power. europe until now hasn't had this kind of shake-up. it could undermine the whole project.

is europe flawed? yes. does it need reforms? yes. the alternative is we revert to a nation-state model in a very competitive region with hundreds of different cultures, languages, and ethnicities coexisting on top of one another. a region that never enjoyed lasting peace until the formation of the EU. the nation state model itself looked bankrupt after two world wars driven by imperialism and nationalism. add to that potential power vacuum the fact that putin wants to cynically manipulate and undermine europe's political bloc as much as possible. a shattered and divided europe is going to play right back into his geopolitical game in the central and eastern european states.

but yeah, it sucks being ruled by those evil technocrats in belgium with their ludicrous regulations on bananas and their agricultural subsidies!

How much of this is related to the migrant crisis? Doesn't the EU force countries to take them? Or is this whole thing just a coincidence?

Do people know there still will be regulations on bananas that some agency will make up?

EU doesn't force any countries to take anyone. It becomes a problem when say germany is opened borders for refugees when their neighbours have to deal with all the logistics along the way.
