If I had to pick a city to live in in Aus it would be Melbourne, the job thing is key.
Adelaide suits me better for various reasons ATM, although it could end up like Detroit in 10 years the way its going.

everyone says melbourne is the most cosmopolitan and 'european', if you will, of the aussie cities. plus it does have all the publishing and media jobs. but i don't know that much about it except that a bunch of cool people i know live there.
i wouldn't be buying any property as my life situation is too fluid and changing at the moment.

Melbourne probably is the most European, its a funny place, everyone seems dour and in a terrible rush to be somewhere, apart from the tourists and the students who are all asian. There are also a hell of a lot of middle-eastern looking immigrants and vagrants.
That and seeing people grinding through nose-to tail traffic in supercars is a bit weird.
But hotel and restaurant standards are pretty high, plus there are things to do and there's a bit more history than in other places.
From my perspective the biggest feature is now the casino, its fun to watch sullen Chinese throwing their money away.

Found out I have iron deficient anemia, so now I am on iron pills for the foreseeable future, and get to have a camera run up my colon and down my throat. (hopefully not the same one, or if it is, they go down my throat first)

Just found out that the wedding I'm going to for my cousin next week has both of my siblings and all of my favorite cousins at one table. And then I have to be at the same table as my mom, her boyfriend, my grandparents who will ask me about my shitty job or fixing their computers again, and my similarly-aged cousin that I never talk to because we don't have shit in common.

The dinner shouldn't that long, and should be filled with boring speeches. Eventually everyone will get up to dance and if you don't want to do that you can chat with the family you like who isn't dancing.
