I'm trying to search for a new processesor but I don't know how to find what model of motherboard I have, so I don't know how big the processor should be. I tried device manager and it never said anything about the motherboard. Playing with 1.6 GHz is getting old quite fast.
one way is to use an analysis program like belarc advisor Belarc Advisor it tells you alot of useful things!

If you still have original bill of sale, check that.
Otherwise, crack open the case and eyeball your motherboard. It will be labelled.
"Device Manager" and other Windows accessories will not tell you anything, other than how many gHz the processor is.

yeah most likely, MSI motherboards are great. I bought one from newegg.com about a year ago, and have had no issues with it. The one i originally ordered had a bad AGP slot, and i called up MSI, and they told me to have newegg replace it, and if newegg wouldnt to let them know and they would send me a new one. Newegg replaced it, but i had to get a different model because they discontinued the original one. But yes, i recommend MSI.

Big isn't the right word, fast or type would be more appropriate. Anyway a bit of google searching will tell you its a socket 478 with 200MHz FSB. Don't know a lot about Pentiums but as far as I can tell you can get Northwood P4s up to 3.2GHz, or you could put a dual core Celeron in it (no idea if its compatable though and definately not good for gaming!). Use google - its you friend!
Thats not a model name...what prgram did you use?_j5689_ wrote:

another vote for sandra, it is an excellent program.
i believe CPUZ can tell you
your mobo doesn't have a AGP slot?
how the hell do you play bf2 with it then?
if so, i'd suggest you to buy a whole new comp.. cuz it's about time man..
1.4ghz is like 3.5+ years ago
wait till july 24th for conroe to come out
or wait till june 4th for the prices of nowadays parts to go down

My mobo actually did come with an AGP slot, I use a Sapphire ATi Radeon 9600 Atlantis 256MB overclocked.

I thought I could only get Intel since this is an Intel board, you mean I could fit an AMD in here instead?
Just wondering, but do you think there would be a significant increase in speed between a Celeron 2.6 GHz processor and a 1.6 GHz Pentium 4?
