CT has been on the decline for decades, but not as rapidly as the last few years. We are thinking of moving to Kentucky but I'm open to hear suggestions as to where is better and why. Here are the priorities, however, not in a particular order.

-Land, I need at least 40 acres for hunting.

-Red state, we are Republican and have fiscally conservative values, we are pro 2nd Ammendment, but we are not religious and are for(or at least not at all against) gay marriage.

-Good schools with like minded educational values, our children are 6 & 3.

-lakes. I have a boat.

- there MUST be a Dunkin Donuts within 20 min drive. Fuck off, don't judge....what can you expect, we're from New England:)

you won't find a redder state than Utah.

-i don't know about schools at the k-12 level, but our colleges, Universities are well regarded
-we also haz water

you can hunt buffalo (bison), elk, mule deer, bighorn, and if you draw even bear and mountain lion.

we haz elevation, fom 2000' to 11000'.

the downside is we have a lot of tourists, and they are not seasonal.

Not gonna bother advertising for Wisconsin because it is a purple state, although a decent change considering it was originally blue a few years back ago. Our governor is pretty awesome though, hopefully he gets reelected next year.

I'll suggest Oklahoma or North Texas regardless of what these tards say about it.

-Land, I need at least 40 acres for hunting.
Oklahoma has surplus land.  The land is relativly cheap too so long as you aren't trying to buy indian land.

-Red state, we are Republican and have fiscally conservative values, we are pro 2nd Ammendment, but we are not religious and are for(or at least not at all against) gay marriage.
Oklahoma is the most red of the red states.  Obama didn't win a single county here during the election.  You hardly even see any hippies or liberals and the ones you do are reasonable.  Oklahoma has some of the most relaxed gun laws in the country and is an open carry state (you can get a gun in under 10 minutes).  Oklahoma is pretty religious but not so much in your face.  I'm not religious and no one ever gives me shit about it.

-Good schools with like minded educational values, our children are 6 & 3.
Really good schools.  Over funded almost.  Small classroom sizes too.  I went to school in a city of 15,000 people that had 3-5 different school systems in it along with others outside city limits.   My graduating class had 30 people.

-lakes. I have a boat.
Lots of lakes.  Lake Texhoma, Lake Thunderbird, Lake Stanley Draper, etc etc. Water sports and recreation is pretty good here.

If you live close to a decent sized city this won't be a problem.

Also, Oklahoma has the cheapest cost of living in the U.S. and one of the lowest crime rates.  Most of the crime/drug/gang problems are in very small isolated areas and in my 30 years here it hasn't ever caused me a single problem.  AND, the people here are super nice for no particular reason which is something you probably wouldn't know anything about coming from New England.

it is to protect the children, don't ya know. BS. Don't worry, wink wink, we aren't going to prosecute  consenting adults for things they do in private.

Change the age of consent to 18 from 15, dumbass.

Yeah...I don't see how exactly tourism is a downside unless you're a snarky, elitist New Yorker scoffing at packs of Japanese people.

Northern lower Michigan is pretty beautiful. Specifically, the northwest corner. Lots of options for land and hunting. Lots of lakes. Pretty conservative in most areas. There are great options for smaller and larger schools.

...but...

No Dunkin Donuts to be found.

CT is not New England, it's a bastard child of the worst of Massachusetts and Rhode Island mixed with the rich assholes of NY. DD also has horrendous coffee and food, and they treat their employees like shit.

Move to NH or VT. You will find what you are looking for.

Massachusettes can suck a fat dick, it is no better and you should know that. If anything Mass is worse, you cant even fart without getting taxed for it.

I grew up in VT, we still own property up in Orleans County. That place is one of the bluest states in the union buddy, and their education system sucks. Everyone thinks they are conservative because it is a constitutional carry state but VT is full of hippy liberals and that isnt my cup of tea. Its looking like northern Texas or Oklahoma so far.
