A Minnesota man working on a fixer-upper tore down a wall and found, among the newspapers stuffed inside to insulate it, a copy of Action Comics No. 1. That's right, Superman's first appearance. The birth of superhero comics. It'll go for at least $100,000—but it could have sold for a lot more.

In a gobsmacking story by the Star Tribune of Minneapolis earlier this week, David Gonzalez tells of how he found the comic book, showed it to one of his in-laws, and in a heated argument that followed, tore its back cover—a defect that lopped $75,000 off its potential value, in one appraiser's view.

My car was broken into and they stole <$10 from the centre console.

Yet left my $200 prescription sunglasses though. Bless 'em.

My idiot house mate left her wallet in her car and has lost hundreds of dollars along with all her credit cards.

They must have had a device that cycles through different key frequencies til they unlock the doors cause it wasn't forced entry.

My poor money in the hands of a junkie.

How do you get people to take you seriously? I feel like everybody sees me as a walking mental diagnosis or a virgin with no balls. I'm so sick of this shit where I can visibly watch people lose respect for me as they find out more about me, especially girls. It makes me so sick to my stomach. I want to be confident and I feel like I've been getting a lot better with that lately as life has come together a little bit better but it's not coming at a good enough pace for me. I don't want to be pitied anymore, I just want to be on the level.

so i'm staying in london for a few weeks. my gf is away in ibiza celebrating finishing her exams. i decide to go out on the town with my friends for a sneaky get-together and get-wasted special. night is going well until i get to a cash-machine at about 1am. the cash machine eats my debit card. no warning or way out. 'your card has been requested by supplier and kept'. unsure if the card machine is rigged somehow (it was in the middle of nowhere). anyway, i'm now minus a debit-card for my stay in london.

no biggie, right? wrong. in the same night i manage to lose my entire cash-pile from my coat pockets. i had everything in a secure pocket for my travel down - passport, rail cards, about £100 in cash, etc. well somehow the remaining £75 of that cash disappeared. it must have fallen out of my pocket when i was drunkenly getting my ID or ipod out or something.

all this happened in the space of about an hour. i'm now in london with absolutely no money, my gf is away, and i'm eating black peppercorn ryvita crackers with some cheese for the next week.

FML.

no i just brought one debit card with me on the trip. it was brand new actually, they sent me it like 2-3 weeks ago because of some fraud-protection thing or something. now they've maybe even recalled that one, too. that or the cash machine was faulty. either way... think the feds are onto me.

and what bigger picture dilbs? i recommended it to her. it's the start of the season there at the moment. good way to unwind with friends.
