I'm 9th gen. Family immigrated since 1840s as free german settlers, according to my aunt someone down the line was involved in the Eureka rebellion and helped one of the rebel duders hide in his house. I guess people popped kids pretty early though, I know my grandparents had kids in their 20s.

i can migrate anywhere in the anglophone world i want. i have skills and qualifications, as well as the fluency and cultural familiarity required. and i believe in the free-movement of any skilled worker who has similar basic prerequisite skills. i don't believe asians should be hampered from emigrating to australia if they can speak english and provide a basic base-level assurance that they'll work and contribute. i really think stopping the movement of people - especially on racial grounds - in a global-market 21st century is backwards and ass-dumb stupid.

i've already referenced before i have several non-university educated friends who migrated to australia to do labour and building. i also have 2 friends who migrated to australia after graduating (with an english degree): one who now works in event management for some fancy drinks company, the other for Penguin australia. i don't think i'd have many difficulties. they didn't exactly seem hampered.

and you are the one that seems to have a specific problem with asian new-comers, or 'non-whites' / non anglo-saxon people, interrupting your bucolic and provincial lady gaga listening, subaru-driving 'culture'.

Turkish police caught Al-Qaeda/Syrian fighters with Sarin gas. It explains why the US immediately dismissed the claims by Carla Del Ponte(a very credible UN Human Rights Investigator) that the rebels may have used the chemical weapons. I'm interested to see how the west will spin this story.

In the meantime, the rebels have stated that they would not attend meetings brokered by the UN, US and Russia. Iranian elections are coming up and all the "candidates" are allied with the Ayatollah. There will be no more disagreements and fights between Ahmadinejad and the Supreme Leader. It also means more support for Hezbollah and Syria. And we still have Saudi Arabia, the primary supplier of arms/money to the Syrian rebels, headed for a change in leadership. What an exciting year! I'll be sure to keep everyone of you updated.
