NJ passed medical marijuana in '08. We have had a republican governor since then so we have the most restrictive medical marijuana laws in the country. You can only get a card if you have a terminal or chronic illness that leaves you on death's doorstep like MS, cancer, AIDS. You can only be given the card by a select few doctors registered by the state. After you get the card you simply can't walk into a store and get pot. You have to get an appointment with the people there and they have to talk to you about medical pot and the risk before they can give it to you. There is only one dispensary in the whole state and they complain about being unable to handle all of the state's card holders. To top it off the potency of the pot is capped so it is lower quality than street pot. It is horrible and another reason I'm not voting republican ever again.

There is just no reason to live in NJ.

Luckily Maryland's Martin O'Malley is a bleeding heart liberal so there's still a chance he may pass something else Marijuana-related next year in his last term so we get at least some of the benefits of being a democratic state instead of just high taxes, gun-grabbing politics, and an army of bored policemen whose number one priority is arresting and giving criminal records to young kids with dimebags in their cars
