and yeah i wanted a MIDI keyboard over a device that primarily uses pads because keys are definitely the most intuitive for me. i played guitar for about 8 years and, although it's pretty different, a lot of the scales and general-dexterity skills carry over. so keys are good. i actually have a microkorg analogue synthesizer already, but the keys are even smaller (if you can believe), and so its a pain for MIDI. great for putting out some analogue sounds, though! which always come at a premium in today's digital-everything producing.

next up on the pads front is one of these:



for sampling/splicing and advanced drum programming. also hooks up amazingly as a step sequencer/arpeggiator for live DJ performances. not for another month or so though...

i spent most of my working day at apple listening to those. the xfm kinda bored me after a while. so formulaic.

Yesterday I bought a $14 "Toolworks"-brand ratchet(an upgrade from the $3 one I had before that I lost, this one has 72-teeth) and a $1 flathead screwdriver so we finally have one in the house that's just easy to find.

Today I bought two Starbucks vanilla Frappucinos from 7-11 to make sure I stayed awake for my interview

i seldom buy things second-hand, but when i do, it's always fun. little snippets of other people's insane, chaotic lives.

The cheapest DAC I could find, to play a 5-hour set in -3 weather last night. Shit rocked.
