One of my friends had a really bitchy roommate in law school that would get super pissy if she had any friends over or interrupted her study time with noise, and was just generally unpleasant to live with. Her roommate only went out rarely, never had a boyfriend or anything, and pretty much kept to herself. Halfway through their last year together, there was an article in the paper about a prostitution ring that was busted up and she was on the front page. She literally gave no clues about the other life she was living. Pretty funnyJaekus wrote:
Once at a strip club with some mates we had a couple strippers chatting to us at our table. We were discussing how expensive the drinks were and one said "drink spirits, because it metabolises faster and thus gets you drunk quicker". We shot back with "what are you studying?" She said "becoming a nutritionist". She said she was from Sydney (this was in Brisbane) and whilst none of her friends or family knew what she was doing she didn't really mind it, said she saw it as a bit of fun and the money was really good, which meant she had more time for study to get through uni.Jay wrote:
I was friends with enough strippers whilst in the army to say that most of them get into it just because it's easy money and they don't have any other skills. They don't see it as being much different from waitressing, except the tips are better and guys hand them blow. Some of them are just failed gold diggers that are waiting for some rich guy to fall in love with them while dancing and sweep them off to Monaco (happened to a stripper friend in Austin). Some of them really just get off on feeling wanted by the creepy sort of men that frequent strip clubs, others feel so disgusted with their lives at the end of the night that the last thing they want to do is have sex, or think about sex. The former move on to porn if given the opportunity, the latter save their pennies and get the fuck out of the business as soon as they can.
